Nicko McBrain's BBQ restraunt before the precruise partly?

    by vaderite666 » Thu Dec 15, 2011 11:13 am

Is anyone planning on going to Nicko's BBQ restraunt before the party? I really want to check it out before the party because I don't think I"ll have the time too on the way home.

It might not be too bad if people split cabs though. I think people were doing last year according to FB as that is how I learned of the place.

Would love to go but it definitely depends on whether or not we could secure cheap transportation.

I'd be down with that. Anyone know what we'd expect for round trip prices to get up that way?

OR, we could all pitch in for a rental van for one day. Would most likely end up being cheaper than cabbing it.

Maybe that's what you meant, Joey. I was assuming cab van but rental van would be much better. Granted then there's cab fare to get to and from the rental place

I was thinking cab van but rental van works too. I think the trip from the port straight there was like 120 bucks one way. Split 7 ways thats less than 20 each...

I get a discount on car rentals from National so it's certainly a possibility if we really wanna do this. Would end up being really cheap per person. If I booked a 7 passenger van for one night it would most likely be less than $10 a person. I'd just have to figure out costs of parking it overnight and getting to and from the rental location on South Beach.

Of course, somebody else will probably have to rent something too if we get a big enough group.

I'm up for it also, my cabinmate might also be, depending on what time his flight gets in. As long as we get back in time for the pre party.

Cool! We'll probably have to have multiple groups going and perhaps at different times. I'm sure over the next few weeks we'll get it all sorted out and have it fall apart many times after that. ;)

I went this year on the way down (since we drove all the way from Nashville). It was a little hard to spot...kinda strange location. The atmosphere was awesome - gold records and all sorts of Maiden memorabilia everywhere. The food was good, not the best I've ever had, but mainly it was cool just to be there. I would guess the main thing they would be known for is the ribs based on the quantity I saw coming from the kitchen, although I got something a little cheaper (can't remember what). The hottest sauce they serve is called Run to the Hills, which I remember being pretty damn hot. I would definitely go again if it was convenient to get over that way.

Didn't know about this place, but I would be interested in going before or after the cruise.

One thing to consider is a Hummer Limo. You can pack a lot of people in, and every time I've gotten one, it's been really cheap per person.
Never take anything I say seriously.

Eric and I went there a couple of weeks ago when I was in town for Priest. I rented a car while in Miami and we drove up. It's not close. Great place. KILLER food. Bought a tank top because they were out of shirts (and out of baseball hats) . Nicko was there and went from table to table and talked to guests. He talked to us for a good while, we were the only long hairs in there eating and the place was packed !! Tomorrow night there is a big party in the parking lot of R N R ribs. Live bands and food and a beer garden. It's their 3rd anniversary.

I need to go back. I recommend the Rock and Roll Combo. 1/2 rack of ribs and pulled pork or chicken and 2 sides. :)

Gotta find a designated driver in that case ;)

One thing to consider is a Hummer Limo. You can pack a lot of people in, and every time I've gotten one, it's been really cheap per person.

Looks like you've volunteered yourself to look up all the necessary info ;)

Meh, those can't be too much of a hassle. I hope.

Sounds great! Rock and Roll Combo has me already licking my chops.

WE all went after the cruise last time.....LIMO was our transportation....it really is reasonable per person to go that route..(of course a van would be even MORE reasonable.
From the Port of Miami its 45 min to an hour (almost to Ft Lauderdale Airport)
Its a small hole in the wall place.....food was good.....def try the ribs and the bbq baked beans YUM!

Its really not worth the trip if you take a cab to get there as that would cost you around $80
Depending on the time frame....we may stop by there again after cruise, on the way to FT Lauderdale airport.

We're flying into Ft. Lauderdale Sunday morning and probably gonna get one of those shared vans to Miami. Depending on what time everyone is looking at going on Sunday we might be in.
If not, we are planning on renting a car and heading back to Ft Lauderdale for the Friday and Saturday after the cruise. If anyone is looking into going after the cruise let me know.
One way or another we will definitely put some of those yummy ribs in our bellies again in January.
