They made it so that you never really need to carry around any cash or cards or anything except the sea pass. Even in the casino you can take out and deposit cash using the sea pass.

Is the SeaPass preloaded, reloadable, or entirely paid at the end? Or is there some combination of these methods?

All of the above. You can make a deposit and then make more deposits throughout or give your credit card number or even a combination if you want I think.

I just tied my sea pass to my credit card before broading. At the end of the trip, I got a receipt for all my charges. Magically, there was nothing there I didn't pay for and I swear a couple swipes didn't go through. :headbanger:

All charges appeared on my credit card statement a few days later.

Epic. I thought that's what I read, but hearing it from a survivor is comforting. I'm just gonna need a notebook, if the right bands bring the right shirts, I'll be broke in no time if I don't watch it lol.

Same with me. It was waaaay cheaper than I expected. At one point I stopped by to check my balance and the guy was like "seven hundred and something" and my jaw dropped. Then he said he was kidding, it was actually under $200. Bastard!

you might bring home a few bucks - last year the merchandise supply wasn't overwhelming
bands told that with all the taxes and fees it wasn't really interesting for'em to bring merch to the ship

Hm, that does make sense. I know I plan to pack light, I can't imagine the logistics for the bands.
Well, even better then. I can always order a shirt online. I'm mostly interested in a 70k shirt. Anything else for me is a bonus. Getting some shirts signed would be cool, and I don't have many for the bands that are on, but if merch selection is small, more money to play with elsewhere.

    Good information. Thanks!

BTW, am I incorrect in understanding that bottled water does not cost extra?

I think you have to pay for bottled water. At least you have to pay if you use the bottled water they put in your cabin. (or they charge you for it and bring you more when you put it in the drawers to get it off the tiny desk / counter in the cabin.)

That sucks, but I expected it. I focused too much on what they mention they charge for (only mentioning "alcoholic and carbonated beverages"), and missed the part about "un-bottled non-alcoholic and non-carbonated beverages" in "what's included".

Just bring a water bottle and fill it up throughout the day. I filled it directly from the sink in the cabin and the water tasted fine and served its purpose. I don't think they technically allow you to fill bottles up at the cafe but you can totally do that. Or get around the idea by grabbing a bunch of cups, and filling from them. Really, it's easy enough to get by without bottled water.

Not sure if the normal rules apply, but I'm sure they do. Royal Caribbean offers packages where for a fee you get unlimited pop, juice, or water. We were probably going to get some of those assuming they're available.

Anyone know if we have RC booking codes? Their site won't accept my UMC code for some reason...

I think we got our booking codes in January last time. You'll get an email with all the proper information needed to check in and at that time you can order all the various packages (soda/juice/water/wine) and I think even book some excursions.

I dug around for anyone who didn't know the deal, it was hidden under mountains of FAQs. Soda package is a sticker on the SeaPass. Juice and Water are delivered to your room.

Soda package includes unlimited fountains from everywhere that has them, for approximately 6.50 a day. 25 bucks per person for infinite coke is something I can get behind.

Prices for juice and water packages were less easy to find, but it does say that depending on the size of package you get, they are up to 25% cheaper than buying singles. The wording leads me to believe it's a "the more you buy, the more you save" situation.

Juices offered are standard 15 ounce/433 ml minute maid Apple, Orange, and Grapefruit (flavours can be selected with the package, or get a variety) in packs of 4, 8, or 12.

    Water is 32 ounce/1L Evian bottles in packs of 8, 12, 16, or 24.

We're planning on getting a wine package for the room.

Regarding the pop (that's what we call soda / coke where I'm from) package:
We got it up front for this year's cruise (no sticker, it was printed right on our sea pass since we did it online before the cruise), and it was kinda a pain in the ass since we always had to get a waiter / bartender to get the soda for you (really made it tough to make your own jack & cokes ;) ) I didn't see any "self serve" lines for soda, but maybe there was some and I was too drunk to find them.
The good thing about it is that if you ordered a mixed drink with soda, you only pay for the shot of booze since the soda is already paid for.

I did find the self serve punch / lemonade fountain up by the pizza joint to be very helpful when mixing your own drinks, though. That fountain is free for everyone!

Having been mocked for it so often, I thought "pop" was just a Canadian thing. Hell, here, soda specifically referes to carbonated unflavoured water.

    I learned something today!

I laugh whenever someone says pop. I think it's a midwestern US and Canadian thing. As far east as Buffalo I think. I say soda. My grandmother said tonic.

Interesting. So how many mixed soda drinks would I need to purchase to get my money's worth? If it turns out to be cheaper than bier, I'm all for it!

certainly what I will do... I'd thought about the soda pass, but perhaps the free lemonade and punch will suffice since I mostly drink water, anyway... of course, if they had Moxie, that soda pass would be a no brainer!

I'll keep it in mind, but I have an issue with tap water. (What are the odds?) However, I would think a cruise ship would have to supply it's own water. Now if I can just find out how it's filtered. Or I may just have to go with the free punch/lemonade to keep hydrated. Then again, I'll probably buy a water package. Couldn't cost THAT much.

You could always pack a filter  The sinks were rather small so it was kind of annoying to fill but worked in the long run. I'll probably just steal a cup from the cafe this time and use that to fill the bottle.

Water on the ship IS filtered. So it's not exactly tap water, let alone horrific Florida tap water.

I only drink filtered water myself, but since the ship paid the expense to do it for us, I had no issues

    From Royal Caribbean FAQs

Q: Is the water on the ship safe to drink?
A: Yes. All drinking water is either distilled from seawater or loaded onbroad while the ship is in port. Royal Caribbean adheres to Vessel Sanitation Program standards published by the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS). The USPHS conducts inspections of the ship, both during its construction and throughout the year, to ensure compliance.

I usually filter tap water at home, but I had no issue with the taste of the tap water onbroad.

I still have the cup from the pop pass. It still smells like booze, though.

I'm assuming the same water that you can drink is used in the punch and lemonade
