A note for all you 1st timers & "shy people"

    by KevinP » Mon Jan 02, 2012 6:39 pm

If you see any of us veterans by ourselves or in a group, don't feel weird/ackward/creepy to introduce yourself. No one here bites and everyone gets along remarkably well.

There are NO cliques or inner circle bullshit things. We're all just one big happy group (old, new, polish, half Mexican, power metallers, etc. we accept them all  )

And nothing pisses me off more than "people feeling excluded from a group". I just won't stand for that (though I'd be shocked if that was even an issue).

Nice of you to say that, Kevin, since I (and most of the people I'll be with, too) are quite shy, so I'm still wondering what my approach will be if I meet any of you. That's my first international trip, too, so I'm not used to meet peeps from all over the world. Still, we'll probably join you guys for a couple of drinks; alcohol is such a good way to relax... :P

    Im pretty much straight pollock.

What was really interesting about last year's cruise was asking random people during conversation if they were on the forums. Some people would give blank stares and other would be all  once usernames were exchanged haha.

I was pretty distracted by everything when I got on the boat to even make an effort to seek people out from the forums.
That and I'm not extremely active on the forums, but I wouldn't mind meeting some of you.
Intersting bunch you guys are.... :heavydrink:

I'm a cruise rookie and I'm going basically by myself. The only people I've met on the boat are people I met through this forum and believe me, I am not concerned in the least about ever feeling bored or lonely on this thing. Everybody is just happy to be there.

it didn't matter where I was or what I was doing, it was no problem for someone to start talking to me (many not even on the forums)....... people were awesome friendly, usually asking where I was from was the first question I got, followed by with who I was most excited to see on the cruise.
at the bar, waiting for a show to start, in the rest room, eating, in the elevators ... if you aren't hiding in your room, you will be approached by someone (ohhhhhh that sounds creepy haha)

shy or not someone will stop and talk to you, maybe even if you don't want them to

always polite and most smiling from ear to ear on such an awesome experience  :givebeer: :beerhorns: :viking:

can't wait to see you all and do this again ........ is it January 22 yet? ;)

Like the vast majority of North Americans, I'm a mutt, but me family roots are largely Swedish & Spanish. A combo I've dubbed Swanish.
I suppose that's better than Swine-ish. No offense to any Year of the Pig folk...if there is such a thing. :ugeek:
2012 - You never forget your first time. And MDB.
    Barge - Ruled. Period.
2015 - Booked early, disappointing lineup.
2016 - Awesome. Best lineup since Barge.
2018 - Good lineup, great time.
    2021 - Hypocrisy or bust.
