Good announcement. Big name for black metal fans. I don't like their albums but they were pretty good when I saw them a while back. I'll definitely be attending at least one set. Much better than the previous few Barge announcements and it's great to break the drought. :beerhorns:

I posted this many months ago here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1715&hilit=mayhem+hole+in+the+sky&start=280 ....but here it is again now that Mayhem was just announced. :mrgreen:

Mayhem at the USF venue on August 27, 2011 in Bergen at the Hole in the Sky Festival

I saw them again in Chicago in November and thoroughly enjoyed both gigs. I had not known their music much at all (outside of random youtubing here and there) until early last summer. I believe it was Slaytanic Erik who had recommended this album as a must own....and I agree - a brilliant classic as far as this kind of music goes.

Well now its four bands I wanna see on Barge: Behemoth , Hypocrisy, At the Gates and Mayhem... If only money wasnt the issue.......

Hopefully 70k gets either Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir and Dark Fortress or Watain.... BUt I hardly think so.

But actually I do not understand why Immolation and Nile will play on 70K. That would fit much better on the barge or? And Paradise Lost would be more appropriate to 70K. If I really understand that the barge are intended for the more extreme metal. Also, I would also like to see Paradise Lost, of course.

and, yeah, Barge does have a few bands that aren't "extreme"

OK. I had a fear that now only will come power metal bands on 70K. A variety empire line-up I would find very good. But I don't need fun bands.

Sweatpant Boners, that sounds super serious.
I think what she means is a gimicky band like Van Canto and the like.

yeah, and knowing all the guys involved with the recording, I'd heard about this ridiculous project they had put together for awhile, but the cd still surpassed what I expected... as far as live... you haven't lived until you're in a crowd full of people all chanting "Pee with your father" hahaha
