    Bringing Kids on board?

    by hornile » Sun May 20, 2012 12:15 am

    Hey there,
my daughter (4yrs) loves metal. What do you think, is it possible with a kid this young to go on the ship? We've already been to 2 metal shows, so no problem with the gigs itself. But what about the rest of the cruise?

    Thanks!!!

You can certainly have a great time with kids on broad. Shouldn't be a problem at all. Great to bring up a kid into metal so young :headbanger:

If you like to party it might not be a great idea.

    Thanks,
that sounds great !!!! Partying is not sooo important, we just like to have a good time with great music.

Although I wondered if the child day care center is available on this cruise like on the other cruises...

    We'll see you all in 2013 !!!!!

Please please make sure you bring hearing protection if you do bring such a young child and know she could be one of the only young kids on the ship.

Didn't Annette Olzon from Nightwish bring her baby? I know when we were in the cayman islands I saw her with a baby on the ship.

On previous gigs we used these special "mickey-mouse-headsets" for kids as protection. Do you have any other ideas?

So Mrs. Olzon brought her baby with her...saw her quite a few days ago on their last gig of the European Tour.....
    One word: AWESOME !!!!!!!!

    Hi hornile,

As a matter of fact we had several kids of different ages on the previous cruises. On regular cruises there are usually a fair amount of families with children of all ages, so the ship is very well prepared.

Yes, there is a full scale kindergarten with pro child-care staff, should you need a break.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Service Team: http://www.70000tons.com/contact.htm

    Cheers,

    Andy

i stand corrected, great that there is a daycare! thanks Skipper!

as far as the earphones go, you should be ok with just about any model that's available as long as they fit your child's head well! the fit is most important to ensure protection. i'm sorry i just really get mad when i see kids at shows with no hearing protection, i have a friend who was wearing a hearing aid since Junior high school because his parents took him to shooting ranges and concerts without hearing protection when he was very little.

anyway there you go, hope to see you all on broad!

Wonder how hard it is to keep the headphones on really young kids? I assume they try to take them off a lot, especially if the weather is hot and sticky

just let the kids put their favorite stickers on them or paint them, then they'll want to wear them all the time.

I myself, would never bring a kid to a metal event. It just wouldn't be fun if you have to take care of your kid, instead of party 'til you drop or just hang out with people who do.

Can't see it as a problem.I'm sure some of the bands have brought their kids on the cruise.Better to bring kids with you on a cruise full of drunk metalheads than a cruise full of drunk jocks

Well said - one of the reasons we didn't take our kids (3 and 11), even though they both love metal. If they were old enough to look after themselves - no problem, but yeah it would be a bit of a buzzkill.
