Last year I was on the fence till Overkill was announced, this year I am booking tomorrow because I know I will have a great time
and I am confident (even if by accident) Andy will come up with enough good bands that I will once again be running from one

I didn't end up seeing all the bands I wanted to this year because I was having WAY too much fun meeting people, getting blurry and running amuck!

First cruise, I saw 11 sets from the first 10 bands announced (AA x 2, SA x 2, Trouble x1, Epica x2, Finntroll x2, Saxon x2)

Second cruise, 13 sets (Eluveitie x2, GD, MDB x2, Stratovarius x2, Therion x2, Tristania x2, Amorphis x2)

And this one I'd only see Sabaton x2, Lacuna x2, and maaaaybe Doro.

So not a good start - And when you consider that for my wife and I would cost at least $8,500 all up, its just not worth it at this stage.

I just assumed Anacrusis was death metal until I listened on youtube. Cool stuff. Still not blown away by the lineup. CoB brought on a few little shits last year, I expect IF and LC to do the same. I'm a fan of both bands, but I know some of the crowd they draw.

Oh, I forgot to put Equilibrium in my wishlist. Yeah, it's totally jungle/caribbean. It's the pan pipes! Have they been active lately? I saw them once at Metalcamp and it was great since I'm a big fan, but objectively it took a lot away when they used a backing track for all of that stuff and not live keyboard. Not ordinarily a problem, but so much of their sound is synth.

And I've been listening to DAR as well....I really like both of these "wacken bands"! I've seen Subway to Sally and they blew me away, and DAR looks to as well.

Haha, is that a hint for the setlist!? I actually like some prog so I understood Manic Impressions. Thought it was a pretty solid album, but I had a tough time grasping Screams. I've listened to it several times over a period of years, and while it was not a bad album I got rid of it along with 20 other CDs from various bands I also like, but if I'm not going to listen to it anymore I might as well give it to a friend, so I did. I can probably get it back from him, and if I can't I will give it another shot since you insist.

I will be booking my cabin on Tuesday. Glad to hear that you guys are playing, I don't think Anacrusis plays that much at all so that's just about worth the trip alone.

Looking at the previous main power metal bands booked on the last 2 cruises i figure helloween will be the main power metal band on next years cruise.
Although i'm not bothered watching them play again till 2015 when they will be touring with Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen back in the band

I love that song! If I go on the cruise, Equilibrium would be one of my top wishlist bands.

According to their website they are booked or a couple of festivals in September/October and had a European tour earlier in the year, so they're still kicking around. I don't think they've ever been to this side of the Atlantic.

walkin viagra pill! Observation of the line up so far......meh but again I care not I had so much fun last year seen bands I never seen or heard of before and truth be told those were some of the best shows. Can't wait to headbang with the fellow cruisemates again see u there!

Well, it looks like Nilay and I will be no-shows for 70K 2013. we just have too much going in the first half of next year and we couldn't make 70K fit in timewise or financially. So here's to hoping the rest of the announcements suck!

Very likely we'll be back in 2014 though.
