Even if I support Ahab being onbroad, I think using one of the wish list threads would've been enough. Opening new threads for all the metal bands in the world only makes the forum a mess, or more than it already is. :beerwink:

I always wanted to start my own AHAB thread, but i refrained because I had a feeling someone would bitch about it, instead I do exactly that, keep my wishlists to the appropriate threads.

Personally I'd love to see AHAB onbroad, they'd be the only band that would guarantee me to make a booking straight away. I did talk to Daniel Droste too, he did say they'd definitely do either Barge or 70k if they were invited.

I've said it before, their style of music and their themes, what they write about, being obsessed with Moby Dick and the ocean, the cruise would be the perfect stage for them to play on. Nautic doom on the open seas.

Perhaps it would be better that someone make one thread for each band which will play on board. So everyone can comment. So works it on Summer Breeze Forum.

Any and all threads here are bound to be derailed after a couple of posts. Like this one, not about Ahab anymore.

Do you know the Summer-Breeze Forum (http://community.summer-breeze.de/site.php?name=Forums). There it works fine. Ok there are many more visitors. But if someone puts all bands knew folder it wouldn´t be chaotic. Sorry, for my bad english. Hope everyone understands what I mean.

Bah. There are already a bunch of single band threads. What's a few more? ;)

I've listened to Ahab a few times over the past couple of weeks and gotta say that I have enjoyed it a bit. I need to be in the right mood but they would be a good fit on a cool, windy, misty night on the pool deck.

Maybe I should start an Amaranthe thread then?

No, seriously, there would be like two hundred threads for different bands, and duplicates for those, because no-one would go to page two or three to check if a thread for that particular band already existed.

Yes, you must :D

Their latest album "The Giant" is great, released on the 25th May. And it's been getting all positive reviews.

AHAB on Barge makes more sense, but I'm biased.

As long as they play nothing from the new album, then it's sleepy time

No it doesn't, it makes equal sense. But either way, I don't care which boat they're on, an AHAB announcement will 100% guarantee my booking.

Oh, and you might be pleased to hear, my copy of "The Giant" digipack came in the mail yesterday. It sounds great on the surround sound stereo system :D

I gave it another full spin the other day and just can't get into it. Guitars are just not heavy enough for me. I dig the artwork and was all set to buy it too :(

Well, to each their own. I just find it strange, sure it's not brutal death metal so its not pounding heavy every second of every song, which is a good thing for me, because I find that kind of music tedious, but it's still heavy in some parts, and still has growls. It's no less heavy than some other stuff I know you like, like lets say, some of MDB's latest albums for example. And definitely heavier than Diablo Swing Orchestra :P So you may not like the music but you can't say "it's not heavy enough" for you, that just doesn't make sense. But that's understandable, because it goes back to what we were talking about on Facebook earlier.. you being from the Backward States of America and all :P Haha.

And the booklet artwork is stunning.

Ooh, I just looked at the sales for 70k, it trumps Barge. Maybe they would be better off on Barge, I might have a better chance of getting on that boat :D

Come to think of it, Enslaved's Herbrand Larsen did guest vocals on 2 tracks on the new Ahab album, and they're on Barge. So maybe it does make more sense for AHAB to be on Barge after all :D Kevin may be right for a change.

Well, they're a doom metal band from Germany. They write songs about the ocean, and whaling. Concept albums based on whaling novels and stories such as Moby Dick and The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket.

Each album is very different, so it depends what mood you're in. "The Hunt" is a good song to start off with, from their first album, The Call of the Wretched Sea.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSdWh8gaof0 (this is the song played over a video of the hunt scene from a Moby Dick movie, it fits really well, and is pretty intense)

From the second album, The Divinity of Oceans, you could start off with the first track, called "Yet Another Raft of the Medusa (Pollard's Weakness)":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nrvNUOU0EQ

The third album is called The Giant and was only released on 25/05/2012, and is the only album available IN FULL on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRcc6RA1gBg

My favourite songs so far on the album are the first two, and Fathoms Deep Below. Each track is time stamped, so you can skip to whatever song you want to listen to.

Enjoy!
