kaliska wrote:So my boyfriend & I have just acquired tickets for the mighty 70K but since it's miles away from good old England we want to make a 2 week holiday out of our trip and do something after the cruise. We thought about Disney/ Universal & the Space Center but we've both been already (albeit many years ago). If you had to recommend one place in the USA to visit where would it be and why? Not necessarily thinking theme park etc - just anywhere you could spend a weeks holiday.
Thanks!

i agree. the landscape seems to change entirely every few miles.
kaliska wrote:Thanks guys, I'll look into the places you mentioned For some reason I never really considered doing a tour but now I'm thinking that even though we don't have time to drive all the way to the west coast a short road trip may be just the thing - it would be great to travel around a bit and see the sights.

We drove through part of Jesusland on the way to Arizona. Kansas had some frightening billbroads.

Holy crap, bring your wallet if you go to Canada!
I was just in Niagara Falls, $45 for a steak, $14 for a six pack and at the bars $7 for a generic beer.

Is all of Canada like that, though? Maybe that was due to being in a touristy location?

Las Vegas is awesome too. Besides what every one thinks of Vegas the land surrounding it is breathtaking.
Plus one day my wife and I hit 8 brewpubs all in the Las Vegas area.

True!!
Kaliska, you're from England, so all you need is to watch Top Gear's "American Road Trip" episode.
For Americans, it includes cars, guns, hillbillies, driving thru the South.

austin is the only other cool city in the south yes. i thought of it, but it feels like "texas" isn't the south, it's a lone category until itself. so really i do like austin, just got hung up on the classification. i damn well can see on a map that it's a southern city though....
