Finally booked Saturday night in South Beach:

Saturday I'm at the Miami Beach International Travellers Hostel. $25 for the night. Voted #1 hostel in the USA in 2009
Sunday I'm staying with my cabinmates at the Wyndam Garden Hotel, also in South Beach.

Hopefully I'll see a bunch of you around. Saturday karaoke and still haven't decided for Sunday.

Wyndam is on the corner of 11th and Washington.
The hostel is on 9th and Washington. Looks like we'll be very close.

Sweet, yeah, only 2 blocks away! I zoomed more in on Google-maps to see the Wyndam come up.. still didn't.. but 1th and Washington has a Police Dept, so I guess you will be safe!!! Just don't do anything illegal, hahaha  I'm at the Victor Hotel, you can see it "The Victor" on the maps... 12th and Ocean...

I will get there Sunday probably right after noon to the area, 1230 probably.

I think Wyndam only recently took over the place. I think it comes up as the Belaire South Beach on the maps.

Cool, we'll have to meet up.

I see it.... yeah, only 5 blocks about walking. I'm thinking of getting a good dinner somewhere and then going to Nikki Beach, maybe..... there are so many places to go... supposedly the places in my hotel aren't bad... but I want to go out exploring a little bit... I will def have to come back to Miami just to be in Miami. 1 Night is not enough for this place...

    Hotel reccomendations?

    by layzer253 » Thu Jan 13, 2011 6:44 pm

I've been researching hotels in the area, and it seems like so many have mixed reviews. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is reasonably priced and close to all the action?

some of the reviews are indeed confusing; sometimes you read "best hotel ever" followed by "it stinks from A to Z"
we chose one where the negative comments were all about the same (non important) issue
but prices have doubled since we booked - so the hotel is far from reasonably priced

    We grabbed this one:

    PORT OF MIAMI-DOWNTOWN
    340 BISCAYNE BLVD.
    MIAMI, FL 33132

I liked the proximity to the port though.

We are staying at the Midtown Inn Miami on Biscayne Boulevard. http://www.midtowninnmiami.com/

Seems like a nice clean place and has decent reviews (free continental breakfast . whooo hooo!)

It's about 1 mile north of the Port of Miami and they have as shuttle that can bring you to the boat.

We are getting a rent a car for the first 2 days. Then using a taxi service from the airport when we return it to get to the Port on Monday.

Thats on South Beach right? I'm definitely going to visit that area for sure, I heard the night life was awesome.

We're looking for clubs to hit on South Beach Saturday night. Definitely one of the reasons we chose to stay there.
