Looks like we have some nominees

    Etecc
    Steel Engraved
    Threat Signal

I'm not really sure of the popularity of these. I've seen Threat Signal twice so I'm not sure if they count. :?

I didn't count Nightmare or Ectomorf cus they've both been around a long time in Europe and have lots of albums, although I've never heard of either. Nightmare probably would've won but apparently they've been around for like 20 years.

I heard Fatal Smile was really, really good too (from Margie). Didn't get a chance to see them though.

I saw about 2 songs at an early gig from FS in the Spectrum if I remember correctly.

    Know it was them anyhow.

They were pretty good, though I had beers to drink, asses to chase, so I stumbled on my way.

Better than I had expected, better than the youtube stuff I saw/heard. Nice live stuff.

Fatal Smile were TERRRRRRIBLE. I made it through a song and a half and yeah, NO.

I will add my call to the chant to nominate Nightmare though. They were fantastic.

Clearly we need some sort of criteria to decide if a band counts or if they're too big. I'll check listeners on last.fm and compare bands.

Edit: Ok Ok, last.fm didn't even know the difference between the french Heavy Metal band and the Japanese visual-k band. So looks like we have a winner!
Also, I compared the listens to the albums so I could get an actual number. Bands like Onslaught and Heidevolk had 25000 + listens on the albums and bands like Steel Engraved and Nightmare had less than an 10th of that. That's how I'll go about it in the future haha.

Nightmare were fucking unreal. Loved it when the lead singer climbed up on the amps on the poolstage :D

And at the end of the gig I was trying to get a setlist and he was up on stage. No one was around to pass the setlist to, so he jumped down off the stage and handed it to me personally. AWESOME little personal touch.

For me, the best thing ever to happen as far as discovering music was Sabaton in 2011. I had never heard them before and when they got announced I had a good feeling, but when I saw them perform the first time on the ship - it was love at first sound! Since 2011, I have seen Sabaton play 14 times - 6 times in a row that counted as my honeymoon (they even talked about me and Charlie on stage!!!) And now we both have Sabaton tattoos that not only represent how much we love the band, but our marriage as well (since I am totally against name tattoos)!

in 2012 it was Grave Digger for me
and in 2013 it was Turisas

So, do Cripper qualify to win this award again? Since we all know that they're going to be awesome I'm not sure

Someone in another thread mentioned making an actual award for them. What did you have in mind?

Since the idea of a "Cripper award"is to recognize a "new" band, I don't think it's possible for any band to win it twice...

I support the idea of actually giving them an award. We could do it on karaoke night!

Nightmare totally won it in 2013 as far as I'm concerned. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't have enough time to get to know them before the cruise!

I was under the impression since the beginning that Nightmare won by a landslide. I thought they were great! :shred:

NIghtmare definitely won, but not by a landslide. ETTEC came in a close second place.

The more I think about it, the more I can't figure out what I was doing all of last year. Didn't see Nightmare, Etecc, or half the other bands.

I am surprised that it only took Nightmare like 24 years to become a Cripper nominee :? :beerwink:
