they tried but sorta flopped on this the first year, but we should be able to give it ago again now that the community is much stronger!

There was sort of open mic last year. After Jeff Waters guitar clinic people could get up and jam on his guitar alongside drummer and bass player from Stratovarius, if my memory serves me. I remember some guy did not-so-bad rendition of Cowboys from hell.

I beleive that was Hodgy! This year there was a bit of an open mic kinda thing after the all star jam. I don't think it lasted long though. I wouldn't mind an open mic since next year I'm probably gonna be there with my whole band

Hodgy was awesome at the clinic!

Actually regret that we missed the all star jam this year :|

I think we should have The Lonely Island songs in the karaoke. :bangers:
    70K 2013 SURVIVOR (Cabin 2120)
    70K 2014 SURVIVOR (Cabin 2565)

    In perpetual post-cruise depression/pre-cruise anxiety.

Doing my best to be there for 2015.

The main improvement I want is to make all venues that have official program non-smoking. And this includes the karaoke. I missed all the fun in the Boleros due to the smoke.

Virtually the only negative thing for me about the cruise was the smoking. When asked about it, UMC claims that they have to go by Royal Carribean rules (which allows smoking in Bolero, Spectrum, Casino, etc.). I would think that since it's a charter, UMC could set their own rules if they wanted to do so.

It's one thing to set rules, it's another to have everyone obey them. Royal Caribbean doesn't actually allow smoking in any of the theaters (Chorus Line, Spectrum..) or the casino, and only designated areas of public places like the Boleros, and the starboard side of the ship. But the rules don't seem to be enforced at all by anyone, and Andy said that it's not in anyones best interest to hire 20 extra security staff just to enforce something like no-smoking, so it's up to the good will and common sense of all patrons really.

The casino is really supposed to be non-smoking? Never would have thought that because every cruise it was like the designated smoking spots in certain airports haha. People would just go right past the doorway and just light up

I know this isn't anything exciting - BUT I think we should have the option of ordering 70,000 tons apparel ahead of time, and have it waiting in the stateroom for us upon boarding the ship.

This past year the line waiting to get 70K stuff didn't take more then 20 minutes so it wasn't so bad, but in previous years it was bad.
Also, I know they run out of a lot of sizes, and it is hard to find time to wait in line for that kind of thing when there are so many awesome shows to be going to instead!!!!

Yeah, no way they could do it for the bands but for the festival shirt/hoodies/whatever I think this is a great idea. It would cut down on lines immensly.

That means smoking is allowed, just not from cigars and pipes. Cigarette smoking is permitted, though. Didn't know there were smoke free areas in the casino, actually. Not like I've ever spent any time in there. Can't imagine the smoke free spots offer an escape from the stuff anyways.

I'm not an autograph person, but I did bring a Hammerfall sock last year. Just one, I couldn't find the pair. I was going to go to the signing for it, but forgot. I did see Oskar on the pool deck, but he didn't have a pen....I did get him to hold the sock for a minute though while Snowy took a picture with a bemused look.

The merch situation has been apparently an issue for all the cruises and I doubt it will change. I am pretty sure RC takes a cut as far as the merch sales go since why would it be charged to your board card anyways. So to do a pre-order type of thing, it would either have to go thru RC's site or thru UMC and I don't know what the logistics are on this one.

I would like to have Twilight of the Gods again, I missed them on the first cruise. I think a lot of people last year were pulling for Death To All. I like covers so I wouldn't mind it, although the all star jam kinda served it's purpose for that.

Before 2012 cruise I had a dream of Death tribute band being booked there. Neither did the announcement nor my boarding happen, but 2014, why not :shred:

What about Compressorhead playing the songs for karaoke instead of tape?

I guess there would be some safety considerations...

Put on someting on the last night to entice everyone to stay up and watch the sunrise and ship pull into the port. I didn't do this on the first cruise, but on the second there were a group of us who all stayed up and we even ran into Andy and got a photo with him. (This is when I told him that he should book Unexpect for 2013. GAH!)

It was a little depressing seeing the Boleros Lounge clear out every hour. Announce something that will make everyone stay up with us and party the ship back into Miami.

That'd be sorta fun. Can't imagine what would entice all the international travelers to get no sleep before a hellish airport-filled day though.
