    The weekend before

    by Eternity » Sun May 26, 2013 3:30 pm

Alright, so it has come to my attention that I have no idea what goes on before the cruise. I hear tell of several different parties and gatherings and stuff. Since I was unable to make it to any last time, I kind of ignored them and they all blurred together.

So I'm asking you all, what's going on before the cruise, where and when is it, who's gonna be there, and should I go?

We briefly contemplated going to the beach party but I don't think my wheelchair would like it that much and I don't want Dan to have to drag me ass out of the sand. :P

Waaaaaaaaay too early to get a list but usually there is a beach party on Sunday afternoon/evening followed by the preparty at night. Last few cruises it has been at Grand Central but Captain Metal would be the one to ask about it. Saturday has usually had a group show up to Dewey's Tavern on Miami Beach for karaoke, as well as other small groups meeting up at various points. Or just wander around and make friends with people wearing black.

Revisit this thread in a bunch of months. ;)

Don't worry about it yet. There will be plenty of organization happening as we draw closer to the cruise. Just make sure you're in Miami for the weekend.

I still suspect that's basically his life. Just one giant metaplot - get lost around age 12, suddenly reappear with dozens of wounds at age 86, with no real understanding of the in-between years.

Listen, I could tell you a story involving Tankard, hookers and drugs. While awesome it's not a story one wants to repeat on a year to year basis. This year, myself, my cabinmate and some other very wonderful folks will be drinking yards of ale for the Saturday night. Then on Sunday..... all bets are off.
    Now let's go get banjaxxed.

The gathering at the beach was fun. A female beach patrol type person came around to warn us about drinking on the beach. A short while later, a large group of police showed up and stood there for a while and basically left us alone. It was great that there were no incidents and no problems from the police! It was a really nice day.

Most people are staying in South Beach,or the Downtown/Bayshore area( mapquest it ! )
From my own experience, I stay a the Holiday Inn/Port--close the ship(20 min walk) and has a nice park area with bars and such--very Cuban in it's culture. Restaurants and people --I like it. There's a Hard Rock there as well.
Lots of cruisers there(and Bieber fans last year!! --little tarts )

The Preparty is close by---just a quick skip through the Ghetto and its a great party to meet up and listen to bands. Don't be surprised to have people come up and say "Hey it"s &^&&^^ from the Forum" and not have a clue who they are.

I remember the first year, looking from m y hotel room, seeing and the locals, and then throngs of black shirt metalheads juust hanging out and having fun.

You don't even have to be partying or drinking, relax, chill and say hi. Canadians are all loved!

it's their only chance for a wall of death - from their web page: "To ensure the health and safety of all ShipRocked guests, no moshing, crowd surfing or stage diving will be permitted during music performances onboard the ship, or while in port at Great Stirrup Cay." :wank:

Blahaha, that lineup is brutal. Not in the black metal way. It's not like it's marketed solely to radio rock, since In This Moment is heavier than some bands on 70k...it's just marketed to....bad....
