It's been awhile since I've been to a festival with so many bands.

What is the expectation regarding band cancellations? The pessimist in me fears my favorites bailing out and I'm stuck with power metal bands as replacements.

As long as there is some power, thrash and doom rocking the boat, then I am a very happy camper. The others are declicious sprinkles on an ear sundae.

For what is mentioned on the main page they are playing the entire Wheels of Steel & Strong Arm of the Law albums.

Is there any other specific albums I should track down and listen to ?

Wow... can't even begin to say how much I have to learn. Went to Ulver and then Ihsahn's myspace pages to check them out and they're NOTHING like I expected. Seriously, as metal fans we're sure blessed with the most diverse range of sub-genres ever to explode out of a few chunky chords!

I would rally for Watain to play. They are hateful for real and would haul out decomposing animal parts on skewers and stir up a very nice smell to mix with the salt water smell. :)

Then they drench themselves in pigs blood (preferred to be spoiled) and start their ritual (set)

I was thnking of Entombed myself, but then I realized that Uffe and Nick are no longer in the band, so it doesn't interest me anymore. I don't care for any of the material AFTER Clandestine anyways. Still pisses me off to this day that LG did not do the vocals on that album and when he rejoined they didn't go back and re-record it with him. Nick's vocals really damper an otherwise awesome album.

Granted if they said they with do 1 show and play the entire Left Hand Path album, I'd be all for it.

Otherwise, get Death Breathe :death: :death: :death:

Not to be the forum police, but were talking headliners that are possible on this thread. I really think some of these bands posted on this thread are not even near headlining status not to mention a headlining tour.
Please post those wishes on 14 out of 40 bands or Genres.

Mastadon is not headliner material by any stretch of the imagination. And as for Opeth, according to their manager, they wouldn't play this.

Then again, he could have been full of shit. He might be trying to push Katatonia instead. We shall see.

Not that it's relevant but i very much enjoyed "through the ashes of an empire and the blackening" but i agree they don't deserve to headline.

my vote for a headliner goes to Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian and Heaven and Hell.

But even out of those the only likely candidate to be considered is Heaven and Hell.

How about Megadeth? Pretty nice band for headlining :D

I hope Opeth is going to be one of those! >.<

Maybe Lamb of God or Iced Earth (I personally dont like these last ones but yet I think is a good band) or some old school like Deep Purple or Heaven and Hell could fit as headliners.
