I don't remember ever seeing a line that said 'Bigger Than Slayer'. Good thing too, I would have probally instantly discredited it.
Same goes for movie tag lines that have to incorporate a whole different movie that actually did well. "Blahblahblah is this year's blahblahblah combined with that other really great movie!"

Bullshit. Good should be able to stand alone without hijacking someone else's name. If that was said, obviously by 'bigger' they only meant 'taller' than Slayer. Too bad. I'd love for them to be on the cruise.

"Bigger than Slayer"? So obviously that means that Slayer is not involved and the bands will be better. AWESOME!! Not a Slayer fan. (Yeah, yeah... Kill me now)

And that means we're getting Bloodbath?! AWESOME! K, thanx!

I'm not sure whether to reply to this from a serious, logical and respectful stance or to just go all forum-funny and fucking around on it... Since I already had my fun with the 1-800 thing, I guess I'll just revert to my normal approach.

First of all lacuna, maybe someone said this to you on the phone. I have no way of knowing, but never once in any thread, on any facebook post or any other promotional statement, have I ever heard anything uttered by UMC that even slightly resembled 'Bigger than Slayer', and I'm confident I've read everything there is to be read so, if you can, please site your source on that. It's a pretty grand claim both by you or by whoever you're suggesting said it. If you're implying that UMC staff said it, in any form, then you're really accusing them of serious false advertising/misrepresentation which is pretty bold on your part if you're just blowing smoke.

Secondly, you know, a number of us have had our fun here over the past 6 months or so, making fun of your posts and how negative they are. It was clear, to us at least, that you'd never be happy with the cruise unless your very specific needs were met. So, it's quite obvious that you're not going to enjoy yourself and I don't mean this the way it might sound in text but, seriously, why are you going then? I mean, it IS a lot of money and a pretty big deal to a lot of people but it really sounds like it's jut not for you. I really think you should consider going to another festival that will be more fun for ya.

Lastly, oh I dunno, I'm not gonna rant about it but you know, musical tastes are subjective, no point in criticizing others when it's really not a matter of our tastes suck but just that they're different than yours... your mama should have taught you to play nice and all that... blah, blah, blah... nothing new to say here.

Have fun in January no matter where you are man
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

Manowar would be fucking awesome, but I wish Ross the Boss were still in the band. :(

Sorry, I like real metal, not constant streams tremolo picking, chaotic atonal chords, phlem-hacking vocals and blastbeats. I'm into a little bit of that stuff, but I can count the number of death/black metal bands I really really like on one hand.

The thing I find funny is how he likes bands like Epica and Sonata Arctica, but then hates on bands like Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray like they're the gayest things ever. Really? How does that work?

Hell, I'm a smarmy bastard when I wanna be, but this guy takes the cake in the "talking out of your ass" hater department. And if he does cancel? Then that's just one less dose of whiny elitist bullshit I have to listen to while the rest of us are trying to enjoy ourselves.

By the way, now that Blind Guardian have been named for the cruise, have you slit your wrists yet whiner?

I cant reaaly afford this cruise, work or time wise but if some of the late additions blew me away I was going to consider it. Plus my passport expired and Ive been to busy/lazy to get it renewed.

Been realliy disappointed witht the later additions and I think Im going tohave to pass on this cruise. Its probably for the best, financially, really need to start paying down my debt on of these years.

The line up was solid back when I signed up 7 months ago. Looking at it now, I keep asking myself if it's real.
I was hoping on one day going to Europe to find a festival with a solid line up of bands that I would enjoy, but looks like one closer to home decided to float by.

Definitely an amazing line up, and definitely excited for this cruise.

I could ask for certain bands, but seriously... if the bands play at the same times on different stages I won't be able to check them all out and I want too!!

When will the running order be available?
The running order for 70000tons of METAL will be posted a few weeks before we sail. Performances will take place at multiple venues on board the ship. We want to make sure that you'll be able to see each and every band on board perform an entire show, so no two bands will perform at the same time twice.

Well, as for 70,000 tons 2012 I would be delighted if the lineup was entirely Black/Doom/Death because I can say with some certainty that we won't be on that one.   Too many vacation plans, not enough vacation time... (curse the need for income!).

    Latest update...

Remember that mysterious man from the woods of Canada that went with the other German Scouting party? In Berlin he bumped into another Canadian and a real Berliner! In what country will they find the last member to complete the line-up of this new band?

When we landed in Vancouver BC we got word that there are riots all over the world because of bands that want to come on board. So we had to leave the North West before we were able to reveal the surprise we are working on. However, we picked up one man from the woods of Canada that will help to complete a new band with some pretty well known musicians from two other countries. Now keep guessing! Full Steam South!

 ... Another Canadian? Does this fit any of our previously speculated possibilities? Arghhh!

Both times they use the words, 'new band' so maybe it's something we could never guess because it's never existed before? :?
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

The event is the attraction, not any one band. You guys don't get it.

We get it (or at least, I believe I do).

It's just fun to speculate about announcements and post about dream lineups. Trust me, despite the fact I might swap 20 current bands for ones whose music I enjoy more, I'm stoked to see everyone from Marduk and Ensiferum to Trouble and Raven. It's just that, as discussion boards and topics go, these ones here REALLY entertain me

And yeah, on top of the bands, it's also the trip, the phenomenon, the people, the first of it's kind, once in a lifetime experience. Oh yes sir. I GET IT :D

(and I think this is true for many others as well)

I have a solid guess... Nitrogods????... former Primal Fear guitarist Henny Wolter's new band. But I don't know if any of these guys are Canadian. :?

And for Christ's sakes, again, I hope I'm wrong.

Then again, it could be Primal Fear, with a new lineup? Still...

hmmmm seeing that they use the words "new band" twice has to mean something
i mean, there has been discussions about forming superbands... what if this is a treat for everyone?
3 metalhead of a major band perhaps?

the second clue shouldn't be to hard. i'm no expert on finding info on the net. but someone who is should be able to figure which canadian metalhead lives in Berlin, right?

Isn't Randy Black, the former Annihilator drummer currently in Primal Fear ? I assume he was Canadian.

Anyways this new group doesn't sound death metal related, so Slaytanic and I are going to sit in the corner and cry

I'm kinda happy to come here this morning and see that you guys are stumped too. I've been trying to figure out who this could be to no avail. None of these clues add up, really. Fingers crossed for something awesome that's just slightly under all our radar!

That 'Berliner' clue really threw me off. The idea of it being a new band is pretty juicy. I'm holding out hope for something Devin Townsend related.
I should get around to updating my signature

After some thinking, it MIGHT be MECHANISM

Which would make Slaytanic a Happy Cruiser :deathmetal: :deathmetal: :deathmetal:

Moving away from this mystery 'new' band for a moment.

I was reading a review just now, and the first sentence hit me:

Tampa Florida’s Circle II Circle have released their 5th album with CONSEQUENCE OF POWER.

Now I know the immediate response from a lot of you would be "OH NO NOT ANOTHER POWER METAL BAND!!"

And I would tend to agree - I like them, I wouldn't object to them being on the cruise, but I don't care if they are not.

I'm just saying that as a band from Florida, they would have to be a chance.
