I think it was Audrey that tipped me off to a live, online feed to a gig out east featuring the touring lineup of Hypocrisy, Scar Symmetry, Hate, Blackguard and Swashbuckle.

I would never contest the suggestion that Blackguard have an energetic show. They'd definitely give asmegin a huge run for his money in the synchronized headbanging/windmill department. :shred:

But as far as the kind of metal I enjoy, all I can say is the online feed was completely free of charge and I still felt like I was being robbed blind during their set

But the other bands all more than made up for it :headbanger:

Just thought i'd throw out the shot in the dark for some bands, send a message out in a bottle so to speak, while i'm drinking from one......

Hopefully the many clamors for Immortal come through....

How bout some Immolation, Dying Fetus, Funebrarum, Cannibal Corpse, Atheist, Necrophagist, Bloodbath, Nile, Origin, Deicide, Bolt Thrower - something along those lines....

And if the course is more in line with thrash/power perhaps a little Skeletonwitch? I saw some posts hinting Angra, that would slay! Perhaps some Hibria too.....

And how has Demons and Wizards not been added. We have all the makings already, right?

And finally, surely the mighty Bal Sagoth is worthy of a voyage such as this!

    Can't wait for 36......

We have all the makings except the fact that, for them to put on 2 entire Demons & Wizards sets, they'd need to get together and rehearse all that material to make up those sets on top of everything they're doing for in preparation for BG and IE sets. I'm sure we'll see/hear at least a couple impromptu D&W related jams/songs/medleys over the course of the trip but the organizers aren't going to give up a valuable slot to Demons & Wizards as an announced band unless all involved were prepared to commit the time necessary to make two more completely separate shows.

I could easily be wrong but, seeing as Blind Guardian is touring currently doing their own thing, I just kind of doubt it will come together like that.

Personally, I'm just happy knowing we're pretty much guaranteed 40.5 bands as we're sure to get at least a little bit of D&W thrown our way :headbanger:

^^Yes, go back in time and bring Gojira right after the release of From Mars to Sirius. The Way of All Flesh isn't good.
But if we have to have French bands, could we get something good like Benighted?

hahaha don't worry there's no shame in liking blackguard! I like their live show when I'm swilling back beers, regardless of how I feel about their recordings... I just wish I hadn't inadvertantly seen them so many times.

Keep in mind everyone that opinions are subjective! rhiawiz: no need to backpeddle away from your previous statements, it's all good.

I think we all need to pound back some cold brewskis.
Or some eggnog with a healthy dollop of rum in it.

oh no, i'm not backpeddling and no one's opinions hurt mine at all! i'm just saying maybe they'll be fun live anyway, and in subsequent posts it seemed like i was a big fan, and really, honestly, i just had fun drinking with my friends and the guys in Ex Deo while they played! so, maybe we'll get lucky and just be having a good time while they're on and not b*tch about how many times we've seen 'em. that was my only hope and if many of us are napping during their set i'm fine with that too.

i ain't staking my reputation on that band though that is for sure. i am just not THAT into them! lol. i tend to be a pretty positive person so sometimes i interject that things could be turned into fun anyway when people are tending towards the negative. it's not about blackguard, it's about having a good time, that's it.

this was needlessly beaten into the ground. i only truly care about the better bands, the cooler people, and the funner pool pit LOL

hahaha.. damn I thought none of my house mates would notice I was diluting the rum with molasses.. I hope they don't read this!

Keep in mind it's reaaaalllly cold here in Edmonton right now.. even the liquor is in molasses-mode.

You know, I think I'll go mix myself a nice drink. One part eggnog, one part milk, one part dark spiced rum, 3 ice cubes, and a dusting of cinnamon, nutmeg, and some ground cloves YUMYUM :D

Whats taking so long fuck,, it's kinda sad when last fm is faster than the organizers hehe. I bet 36 will be Cradle and then 37 annihilator...

My dying bride would be cool, or other bands we don't get in North America very often.

But anyhow, no use in saying what bands we want, since they haven't been listening...

You know, I think I'll go mix myself a nice drink. One part eggnog, one part milk, one part dark spiced rum, 3 ice cubes, and a dusting of cinnamon, nutmeg, and some ground cloves YUMYUM

Nog virgins take heed and make sure you follow Viathyn's recipe. The stuff you get at the grocery store is absolutely vile on its own. Better yet, make it yourself. All the substitutions in the commercial stuff really reduce it to a bunch of chemicals suspended in a combo of deconstructed and reconstructed "milk products". I'm sure I don't have to say it, but don't even think about drinking egg nog without booze in it!

it will be amazing for you to leave Edmonton for the Caribbean in January! You'll go from like 2 hours of daylight to a good 12, and we'll have to dig you out of your layers of thermal clothes and down jackets and whatever else!

Absolutely! While we DO get quite a bit more than two hours of daylight at this latitude in the winter the break from the dismal quality of the light will be most welcome, and being able to venture outside without the aforementioned layers will be worth the trip on it's own! (OK, maybe not, but it sure will be nice!)

I love Eggnog and without alcohol in it. I drink it straight up. Usually liked the local grocery store brand.... but a couple of years ago Southern Comfort makes their own. It is the best Eggnog I have ever had!!! You have to get it! Southern Comfort eggnog in any grocery store.. Comes in regular and 'vanilla spice' flavors. Both are EXCELLENT! Too bad it is so bad for you. I try not to drink it as much as I used to. I used to pound that shit! :trashdrink:

fitting as my fav alcohol is SoCo.

I love eggnog, but I get sick of it really fast. I usually only have about 4 glasses for the whole season.

I have an issue with automatically assuming someone is super cool just because they are Canadian. That's a stereotype too but it's a good one!

I never thought of Canadians as being particually "cool", just nice, polite and civil. Usually they are kinda dorky, pastey and care way too much about hockey.
