I might have to give them another try. I tried to listen to them a few times prior and gave up quickly. Too happy sounding for my tastes.

But there's just too many bands and too little time these days.

Oh yeah Turisas. What ever happened to them by the way?
Haven't heard much about them over the last 2 years or so ever since they changed their musical style and were constantly getting bummed by Metal Hammer.

They're just about done their new album. Shouldn't be long until its out.

It will likely be another step towards the softer though.

Aye.To be honest it's jsut not a band i can watch play.I seen them play in 05 with the original guitarist before he was in a car crash and got paralyzed.
Not the same band for me without him.

Most people are not on their computers this weekend (at least here in USA) since it's a holiday weekend. So from a "news"perspective, they might not get the bang for the buck they would want with an announcement.

Though Canada hardly counts as international in my eyes haha (from the US.. main market. Yes I'm aware Ultimate Music Cruises are based out of Vancouver haha)

They have to soon or at some point as most festivals have the lineup complete way before the event.

Lets see, to me the lineup should be complete by the end of the year or before. That gives 7 months with 22 bands left. We need to start seeing at least 3 bands a month or more announced. Why wait till January or the last minute especially if its not sold out. At this time we need some direction where the ship is going next???

I absolutely love Turisas - Battle Metal and The Varangian Way are fantastic albums (Cursed Be Iron from the latter is one of my very favorite songs - very powerful). Also, their DVD "A Finnish Summer with Turisas" is fantastic! I understand your comment about too many bands though - I have so much music on my plate right now!

I agree - they are amazing live - saw them at Wacken last summer (played at the same time as Saxon I believe so I'm looking forward to seeing Saxon on the cruise btw!) Turisas' last album is Varangian Way from 2007, right? They are definitely due for another! For those of you on the forum who don't know them - check out the video "Battle Metal" - so over the top (but what makes them so great in my opinion!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ift85e38H3M :viking:

Thats the shit version of it.
There was no need to rerecord the song after 4 years in my oppinion.Just sounds worse now.
The old version is FAR superior.

I remember liking that song back in their demo days when it was called 'The Heart of Turisas', and then I heard their first album and liked it even more. Didn't like the new version of it as much. Such an unnecessary re-recording..

Turisas is hands down the best live band I've ever seen. My roommate on the ship and I have met them quite a few times. Great guys, really cool/really personable. . .would be perfect for the boat.

To be honest, the only bands I'm hoping they announce at this point at Turisas and Kamelot. If even one of those two gets added (and I think we have to assume Kamelot will being from Florida AND Epica being on the boat.. .) I'll be a happy camper (is camper the right word for someone on a ship? Hmm. . .)

I have to say, the one band that really shocked me over the weekend was Gorguts, I had never seen them or heard much of their music before but I have just become a huge fan. I think their show raised the bar for the rest of the bands throughout the weekend. Also have to mention Incantation's set. Their cover of Sabbath's Mob Rules was one of the highlights of the weekend for me, they fuckin nailed it.
2015 wishlist: Mercyful Fate, Meliah Rage, Agalloch, Anathema, Armored Saint, Warlock, Sahg, Labyrinth, Incantation, Accept, Savatage, Goatwhore, Satan, Bolt Thrower, Tad Morose, Krokus, TT Quick, Eldritch

I'm just not sold on Entombed since the Clandestine was their last quality release. Not to mention, Nick & Uffe are no longer in the band. Granted Clandestine was ruined by Nick's vocals and LG should have sung. But I'd rather see Nick and Uffe played Left Hand Path as opposed to Lars/Alex and whoever the fuck else is with them these days.

Gorguts seems to have alot of fans. Never liked them myself. I think the cover of their first album was so god damn awful that it ruined it for me.

First time poster here. Will most likely not be on board but I definitely like the idea! If the cruise wasn't coming up so soon I might consider it. I just want to say I'm really surprised that half the bands aren't announced yet. I think the organizers are losing the window of opportunity to convince people to go. Most people need to decide on vacation at least 6 months in advance (right now!) They need to get vacation time off, they need to get airfare, they need to save up the money to go in the first place. Especially as this cruise will attract people from all over the world due to its niche nature. People are not going to want to book airfare from Europe 2 months prior. Also, many many people in the U.S. don't have passports, so if this is their first cruise and they don't have a passport, they will need to get that process started asap.

But maybe I'm wrong.. Would like to see Scorpions on board, Michael Schenker Group. Plus some Norwegian black metal--Gorgoroth, Darkthrone, Satyricon, etc. Samael would be cool. Maybe something really out there like Ulver. Would be crazy if you could convince Burzum to sign up, but don't see that happening. Other ideas: Sammy Hagar, Tankard, Mortician.

Yea, considering Varg was convicted of killing a guy and burning down 3 churches, I kinda doubt he'll get his visa to the US approved

The cruise is 7 months from now. Not a problem for me. There are a couple of bands already set that I REALLY want to see. I guess it's really the concept of it all that intrigued us enough to book the cruise. Too bad for those who don't want to take the chance. And with only 2000 tickets, I think they'll be sold out soon enough :D

    well hi everyone.
We (me and my girlfriend) have already paid half of the cruise, and are really looking forward to the event.
personally I like Turisas, I've seen them once and liked the live performance very much.
If turisas comes I am hoping that the Dutch band "Heidevolk" will come to (my favorite off course ;-)

    Korpiklaani would be great to

well, I'll just keep a good eye on the site then!

Who cares that Varg killed people, the fact that his music sucks and has always sucked should be the main reason to not have him on this cruise.

3/4 of his music is brilliant. If you like Black Metal, there are not really any reasons to hate the music. I hate him as a person for what he did (Murder, the church burnings were awesome)
