New Onbroad Smoking Policy

We have decided to make the SPECTRUM lounge a non smoking environment, especially because some of the artists play both of their sets in the SPECTRUM lounge only.

The Starboard side of the BOLEROS lounge, half of the CASINO and the Starboard side of the VIKING CROWN lounge remain as designated indoor smoking areas onbroad. We always suggest however that you simply step outside, enjoy the fresh Caribbean air and smoke on the outside decks. Please respect the ship and always use one of the many ashtrays provided, but over all respect your fellow Metalheads and refrain from smoking in any non-smoking areas of the ship. Please also be mindful when it is windy outside, that your ash does not blow into a fellow Metalhead's drink, hair or eyes.

Please note that smoking in your cabin stateroom is a fire hazard and is NOT allowed! The cruise line may charge you a $250 cleaning fee if they find you smoking in your cabin stateroom.

Good news! I know royal caribbean changed their policy earlier but I guess umc makes the rules on a charter. Glad to see the spectrum become smoke free. Hopefully y'all take the go outside suggestion

I strongly disagree with this fee. This is much better:
The cruiseline will throw you overbroad if they find you smoking in your cabin stateroom.

Move the all star jam away from the Boleros too. The port side of that place will stay smoke free for a minute. Ok, a minute might be a tad much, so let's say 30 seconds. It's been like that on all previous cruises and I really can't see how the smokers would be smarter or more considerate this time.

Spectrum is my favorite stage. It's intimate and there's always just so much energy there. Having it non-smoking is the best announcement ever.

Chorus Line was non-smoking last year. I assume that will still be policy, since it has fabric on the seats and carpeting.

I saw people smoking in chorus line during over kill on one cruise. Really pissed me off. Will be nice to have smoke free venues , but I hope it's aired out and smelling fresh now. I seriously felt like I was walking into a ashtray full of ashes and cig butts. And I smoke when I drink sometimes. Good announcement !

I'm a non smoker and I never had a problem with smoke at the Spectrum. My only complaint is Boleros during the final karaoke party. Tried it my first (2012) year and I just can't do it again. Too crowded and the smoke takes over the room. To me that's where the problem is, not Spectrum.

I'm very, very happy about this smoking policy. I'm an avid hookah smoker in the confines of my own home (Doesn't linger, doesn't stain the upholstery, doesn't stink), but cigarette stench is one of the worst. Having that blue-grey haze in the spectrum actually made it unbearable in there for some sets, so this is a great improvement. If only we could get the smoke out of the Boleros then I would be happy. IN fact, why not make it mandatory to smoke outside LIKE EVERY OTHER CIVILIZED PLACE. Everyone has the right to smoke, but the sheer audacity and entitlement shown by some smokers is pretty irritating.

Oh, you've got to walk 20 feet to go smoke outside and not bother anyone? Boo-fucking-hoo. It's warm out. Imagine if you were a smoker in a Canadian winter! I've seen some assholes bitching about this on facebook.. suck my fucking nuts.

The only thing that bugged me about the cigarette smoke was how much it stung my contact lenses. I really don't mind the smell (I'm not a smoker).

Having your eyes sting when you're not sleeping and drinking all day/dehydrating yourself really, really sucks though.
