If the lineup were to be nothing but repeats, Annihilator would easily make my top 5 so no complaints here.

I guess most of us got excited and decided to book blind when Blind Guardian was announced. So far, I'm digging the lineup and the fact that we have Heathen and Annihilator on the boat!! Killer thrash and excellent live bands.

This is one of the reasons why the Prog Nation at Sea 2014 cruise was so awesome (and in some ways, my favorite of the out of town music fests I've attended to date). The organizers announced the ENTIRE FRICKIN' LINE-UP before the tickets even went on sale end of August 2013!! So, I could look at that total line-up and easily say to myself - yep, this is a DREAM progressive rock/metal line-up (for me personally) and I absolutely MUST GO. So, I bought a ticket the day they went on sale....done deal. No announcement drama, no waiting around...just nearly six months of taking my time to immerse myself in the discographies of the handful of artists/bands I was not hitherto very familiar with. (many of the bands were already big favorites that I was very familiar with)

Anathema was one of those bands. I was only familiar with a few of their recordings before their PNAS line-up announcement. I spent a great deal of time listening to them in advance and absolutely fell in love with them. And then seeing Anathema live twice on the cruise - both in the large theater and also on the pool deck - were some of the top highlights for me. (ok, note to self: need to get busy on finishing my complete review of PNAS for that thread) As many have said, they probably would not be considered "metal" enough to ever be on 70K. Having said that, there is a 'heaviness" at times in their live performances....so, who knows.
