    Royal Caribbean Cruise Line

    by Laura » Fri Jul 09, 2010 6:18 am

Last Sunday, I returned from a 7 day cruise on Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas. We left from San Juan, Puerto Rico and the four port stops were Aruba, Curacao, Dominica, and St. Thomas. It was our second Royal Caribbean cruise (the first was on the Voyager of the Seas about six years ago) and both trips were fantastic. I can't say enough great things about the cruise line - it truly is one of the best!!!! You are all in for a treat! I could write the following on the appropriate individual threads, but decided to put it all here...

seasickness....NONE! The entire cruise was extremely smooth.

price of drinks: ahem....spent a lot on drinks on this cruise (and shore excursions, etc.), but the prices really aren't bad at all - they had some good drink specials every day too. Maybe later, I'll pull out some of my receipts and give some specifics. FYI - they included gratuity on all of the drink charges, and BTW, they don't take cash. Everything gets charged to your room and then you get the bill at the end (in our case - UGH!).

food/dining experience: FABULOUS!!! GREAT FOOD/GREAT SERVICE....can't say enough about that

special activities on board: tons! although I'm sure some of the ones on my cruise will be gone from the 70K agenda  (e.g. salsa dance lessons, etc.) I'll go into more detail later

brig!!! Yes, they have one - we bid on and won a tour of the bridge with the captain of the ship (proceeds went to charity) and someone asked if they have one. She said they have actually used it in the past but would not divulge details

there's a ton more I could write, but that's all for now

Thanks for the report! Looking forward to more details and, even more so, to experiencing this stuff for myself. I've never been on a cruise and never really thought I would go on one until this baby came along :D

Should've asked if they have lots of nice soft pillows and blankets for some of the more rambunctious members of our little family
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

I've heard from other people on cruises that drinks, some of the fancy dining, and some activities are an added cost that get billed to your room. And that it's not always obvious which come with additional costs. It's always safest to ask before partaking.
