    1. The venue filler, but still more or less within the 70K budget/audience limits.
    Scar Symmetry

    2. A band probably no one else in this forum listens to.
    Hamka

    3. A solid Cripper Award contender (if possible, less known than your previous answer).
    Need

    3. The band you still NEED to see live for the first time after so much time enjoying their music.
    O.S.I.

    4. You've watched them like a zillion times live, but you just can't have enough.
    Symphony X

    5. That guilty pleasure, which might or might not be considered metal.
    Royal Hunt

    6. The live band. You don't listen to them that much but their concerts are a freaking party.
    Sabaton

    7. One band from your country. If you're German, American, Finnish or Swedish, try to be a little bit original :)
    Nevermore

    8. THE band. The one that would make you book right away. You don't even need to think, it's in your mind right now.
    King Diamond/Mercyful Fate

Really? They'd hardly bring 40 or 50 people to a show in Spain... which is so unfair anyway.

Yeah now that I think about it a bit more, maybe not the best choice for filler.

Also, you look quite like Wolfheart's founder & singer (formerly in Before the Dawn and Black Sun Aeon) Tuomas Saukkonen. Of course I can only compare to one low resolution picture so I could be plain wrong anyway :)

A "jump" would imply leaving the other fest completely behind.
I can't speak for the others, but in my case I'm planning on doing both PPUSA and 70K. If pus came to shove, then PPUSA would take priority.

    Thanks.

Like Pellaz said, I can't imagine ever not going to PP. Too many friends and too much of a good time. However, I've heard nothing but great things about 70K and am looking to do both. I've spoken with a few more PP people who are looking to do 70K this year.

    Fun thread!

    1. The venue filler, but still more or less within the 70K budget/audience limits.

    Avantasia, without a single doubt.

    2. A band probably no one else in this forum listens to.

    Pyramaze.

    3. A solid Cripper Award contender (if possible, less known than your previous answer).

    Euphoreon.

    3. The band you still NEED to see live for the first time after so much time enjoying their music.

    Powerwolf.

    4. You've watched them like a zillion times live, but you just can't have enough.

    Sabaton!! :-D

    5. That guilty pleasure, which might or might not be considered metal.

    Soilwork.

    6. The live band. You don't listen to them that much but their concerts are a freaking party.

    Steel Panther

    7. One band from your country. If you're German, American, Finnish or Swedish, try to be a little bit original :)

    Into Eternity

    8. THE band. The one that would make you book right away. You don't even need to think, it's in your mind right now.

    Definitely Powerwolf!

    5. That guilty pleasure, which might or might not be considered metal.

    Soilwork.

that could be a fun list

lol... just going to feed on my wishlist for this

    1. The venue filler, but still more or less within the 70K budget/audience limits.
Killswitch Engage, or maybe Rob Zombie

    2. A band probably no one else in this forum listens to.
    Skindred

    3. A solid Cripper Award contender (if possible, less known than your previous answer).
Kill II This ( I don't know what this cripper thing is..?)

    3. The band you still NEED to see live for the first time after so much time enjoying their music.
    Spineshank

    4. You've watched them like a zillion times live, but you just can't have enough.
    Fear Factory

    5. That guilty pleasure, which might or might not be considered metal.
Coal Chamber - Oh come on......... you know you would, plus Dez is already on board.

    6. The live band. You don't listen to them that much but their concerts are a freaking party.
OK, - I was tempted to say Limp Bizkit here - I know, I know,...I don't care what you say, they're just so brainless that people tend to (especially when drunk) just get into it, - plus it has added nostagia factor. that said I don't think they'd survive this cruise. I think the audience is a bit more 'niche' than other times I've seen them.

    So,.......Airbourne. - I reckon they'd be a blast (plus never seen 'em).

    7. One band from your country. If you're German, American, Finnish or Swedish, try to be a little bit original :)
    Sikth, or Raging Speedhorn (UK)

    8. THE band. The one that would make you book right away. You don't even need to think, it's in your mind right now.
    irrelevant, - I've booked.
My mind went straight to Metallica which is preposterous, I'm not sure there is ONE band for me. I'm interested in checking out many new bands and discovering new music, I don't view it as like a mainland big headliner festival

Pushing it a bit with the metalcore picks, but:

    1. The venue filler, but still more or less within the 70K budget/audience limits.
Amon Amarth as I've never seen them. Otherwise, Nightwish.

    2. A band probably no one else in this forum listens to.
Stretch 1: This or the Apocalypse.

    3. A solid Cripper Award contender (if possible, less known than your previous answer).
Stretch 2: After Me, The Flood.

    4. The band you still NEED to see live for the first time after so much time enjoying their music.
It's absurd that I've never seen Symphony X. Dark Tranquillity is a VERY close second.

    5. You've watched them like a zillion times live, but you just can't have enough.
Between the Buried and Me (ruled out for 2017), who in a month will be tied with Killswitch Engage for the band I've seen most.

    6. That guilty pleasure, which might or might not be considered metal.
    Thanks for booking Amaranthe, UMC!

    7. The live band. You don't listen to them that much but their concerts are a freaking party.
Sabaton (ruled out for 2017), with Sonata Arctica right behind.

    8. One band from your country. If you're German, American, Finnish or Swedish, try to be a little bit original :)
In addition to 2-5, I'll add Periphery.

    9. THE band. The one that would make you book right away. You don't even need to think, it's in your mind right now.
If I weren't already booked, it would be Ancient Bards.

    Actually if I'm honest -No.
Although for some reason the name does ring a bell. I'm sure if I heardon't that Jenny Santos was fronting it I'm sure I'd have remembered
Although am listening to it right now and I like.

I actually thought Santos left music altogether for a period. I heard that he missed a close family bereavement due to touring and that was the catalyst for him quiting SS
Reading this stuff online It seems I was wrong.

    Nice call.

Silent Civilian is the band that got me into metal, actually. I've never stopped loving their two albums, even though we'll probably never again get another. Was never all that into Spineshank myself, apparently neither did Santos since their nu metal sound was the reason he started SC.

I'd probably die from shock if Santos ever got on the boat, in any form. Just to thank him would be sweet.

Relatively unknown band that wows the audience. Awarded every cruise. It's become quite formal with voting and all that. There's even a fancy vest to go with it. http://70000tons.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4676&hilit=cripper+award

Wait, the Atlanta-area band? I did a live interview with them two weeks ago on WREKage. :D

    1. The venue filler, but still more or less within the 70K budget/audience limits.
    Amon Amarth

    2. A band probably no one else in this forum listens to.
Dargaard- even though they never have and never will tour.

    3. A solid Cripper Award contender (if possible, less known than your previous answer).
    Alkonost

    3. The band you still NEED to see live for the first time after so much time enjoying their music.
    Battlelore

    4. You've watched them like a zillion times live, but you just can't have enough.
    Ensiferum

    5. That guilty pleasure, which might or might not be considered metal.
    Assemblage 23

    6. The live band. You don't listen to them that much but their concerts are a freaking party.
    Trollfest

    7. One band from your country. If you're German, American, Finnish or Swedish, try to be a little bit original :)
    BrimWylf

    8. THE band. The one that would make you book right away. You don't even need to think, it's in your mind right now.

    Fun thread, my turn!

So if you could pick one band for each of the following categories, which one would it be?

    1. The venue filler, but still more or less within the 70K budget/audience limits.
    Behemoth

    2. A band probably no one else in this forum listens to.
Mitochondrion (the most intense band i've ever heard) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2byx2VoHypc

    3. A solid Cripper Award contender (if possible, less known than your previous answer).
Do broken up bands count? If so, Lazarus A.D.

    3. The band you still NEED to see live for the first time after so much time enjoying their music.
    Mastodon

    4. You've watched them like a zillion times live, but you just can't have enough.

    Amon Amarth

    5. That guilty pleasure, which might or might not be considered metal.
    BABYMETAL

    6. The live band. You don't listen to them that much but their concerts are a freaking party.
    Korpiklaani

    7. One band from your country. If you're German, American, Finnish or Swedish, try to be a little bit original :)
    The Devin Townsend Project

    8. THE band. The one that would make you book right away. You don't even need to think, it's in your mind right now.
    Enslaved

EDIT: Swapped out Iced Earth for Korpiklaani

Silent Civilian is the band that got me into metal, actually. I've never stopped loving their two albums, even though we'll probably never again get another. Was never all that into Spineshank myself, apparently neither did Santos since their nu metal sound was the reason he started SC.

I'd probably die from shock if Santos ever got on the boat, in any form. Just to thank him would be sweet.

Gotta be honest, - I wouldn't class their first album as nu-metal. - it's got a more Industrial vibe, which I think came a bit from Dino Cazares mentoring them in the early days.
Height of callousness & self-destructive pattern fit more into the nu-metal era though. ( although I still have a fond spot for 'Height..' just due to the time in my life when I listened to it heavily)

That said, have you listened to their fourth album (Anger Denial Acceptance)? - it's heavier than their previous outings & was far less commercially successful. - tonality-wise it has MUCH more in common with Silent civilian I think than the early Spineshank albums (that was my first thought as soon as I listened to Silent civilian).

    have a listen - Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9eGz17EdiU

(see, - I even do the heavy lifting for ya!) :heavydrink:

P.S. - I met Johnny & thew rest of Spineshank when they toured with Fear factory in '98 - it was just before Christmas & I took along a blank Christmas card - got it signed out 'To Andy , - Merry Fucking Christmas, from All of FF & SS'
    - that was a treasured possession. - until I lost it during a house-move.

Should clarify and say that he didn't like the direction they were going, towards nu metal. Industrial and I are not the best of friends, but I'll give it a shot. Santos always seems to put a smile on my face.

Such a bummer about losing the card
