Predictions and hopes for the next 10 bands

What do you think?

My PREDICTIONS
- next 10 will be fairly thrash-heavy as we got no thrash in the first ten.
- we will get another Dutch girlie band. Most likely Epica, maybe Within Temptation (that would be huge for me if it happened!!) or Revamp (fairly unlikely as Nightwish will be on a touring cycle)
- Gloryhammer!!
- a folk band
- a few more 2013 repeats (my calls - Heidevolk and Kreator)

- At least 3 Thrash bands (Overkill or Death Angel would be excellent, even Onslaught)

- Did I mention Insomnium or Symphony X?
- Scar Symmetry
- Ghost Brigade
- Progressive Metal!! Voyager, Distorted Harmony, Pagan's Mind, DGM...
- Unrealistic stuff, such as Avantasia or Dream Theater.
- Gloryhammer or Twilight Force would be cool. Also other happy metal such as Freedom Call.

For what I see in last.fm, they start touring with Sabaton on Feb 26th (previous Sabaton concerts don't seem to have support acts so far), so for the moment no conflicts at all.

At this point more than 20 bands have problaby been booked and UMC had to figure out If they should go with the biggest 20 or hold back a few once public booking begins to coax people into booking.Looks like Greece just took a huge dump in the Euros (and every other currency except USD ) punch bowl .So my prediction is this will almost surely be 10 more strong bands and round out most of the "larger type face" on a festival poster.I hope for a couple of eighties trash bands and a couple more girlie /beauty and beast bands.

Yeah that's a fair point.

Thankfully I have a credit card loaded with US currency to take care of the cruise booking, so the only real hit to the hip pocket I'll take if the US $ strengthens is for the hotels and food etc for the few days we spend in the US prior to the cruise.

Most of these are hopes as well as predictions. I'm sure it'll be more thrash-weighted than I'm predicting though.

1. Gloryhammer (as if we'll sail without Chris Bowes)
2. Gamma Ray (pretty please)
3. Heidevolk (new album out, new lineup, ready to rock)
4. Within Temptation/Epica/one of Anneke's projects (seems likely given the clue)
5. Insomnium (obvious great fit for 70K)
6. Arkona (repeat, not everyone's favourite but IMO they put on a hell of a show)
7. Subway to Sally, or Saltatio Mortis (the German medieval fans must be appeased)
8. Amon Amarth (yeah, this needs to happen)
9. Orden Ogan (they played PPUSA, now they can play 70K)
10. Kreator (make the thrash people happy)

I don't think any black metal bands will be announced this early, due to their limited audience. This announcement has to be all about getting the first batch of tickets sold.

Also first of the really low last.fm numbers kind of band (only 22,000 listeners).

I expect a few more of that ilk in the upcoming announcements.

3 black (in a broad sense) and 1 doom.

2 low number last.fm listeners (Carach and Ancient are both sub 50,000)

Next band most likely either girlie (Visions of Atlantis) or Power (Vision Divine).

One has to ask, where's the thrash?

This year's lineup had 15 thrash bands, and we've got none in most likely the first 15. Not that I'm complaining - I'd be happy with no thrash at all

So what do we think for the next 10 (or 20 if you want)

My PREDICTIONS

MORE THRASH - only 1 or 2 so far, compared to about 15 this year.
MORE PROG - nothing yet, compared to 2 or 3 this year.
MORE HARD ROCK - nothing yet, compared to 4 this year.
MORE CRIPPER AWARD NOMINEES - probably only 3 or 4 so far compared to 15 or so this year.- Gloryhammer!!
MORE FOLK - another under-represented sub-genrre

Some specific predictions

GLORYHAMMER - new album, Chris loves the boat, we love the Chris. nuff said.
AMARANTHE - heavily rumoured.
SONATA ARCTICA - another hot rumour
ACCEPT - members on board previously. Would fill the 'hard rock' void.
ELUVEITIE - Would fill the folk void.
THRASH OR DIE - fits the thrash void and the cripper-award void.
SYMPHONY X - fills the prog void
METAL CHURCH - almost on in 2015
KREATOR - because, thrash
EXODUS - because, thrash
MAGNUM - wishful thinking on my behalf, but would fill the 'classic hard rock' void.

I would think it unlikely that all ten of these acts will be on board - all of them would make far too many 'big' names on board as all bar Thrash or Die, Amaranthe, Magnum and Gloryhammer are pretty massive.
