The Sins of Thy Beloved ,Reunion would be awesome if even possible
The Sword would be cool ,another USA Band!
Got nothing because metal bands rarely use "The" in their band name compared to other types of music.
My wishlist 2019 A band just one band before Christmas!
    2012-14 Survivor
    2015-16 Abandoned Ship
    2017 Returned
2018 Got a bad feeling about this Abandon Ship
    2019 This is Fucking Ridiculous

Do we think they are actually going to keep going with the whole lineup this year? Seems like they are already announcing some of the more obscure bands they usually hold to the end.... And presumably they are sitting on some big names to announce later on.

WAT? Who? Is this basically the Finnish equivalent of radio metal in the US?

They're listenable, but I wouldn't stay up until 6 am to watch them.

As for the newest clue, I haven't any idea. I'm not an ST fan really, but I'd be stoked to see them on the ship.

I agree, when I hear S, T gotta be a big clue for Suicidal Tendencies. Also Dave Lombardo is playing with them so getting Dave back on board in a better band would be killer. Regardless of what you think of Suicidal Tendencies, everyone would agree they are much better then Dead Cross

Yeah ST always.... has to mean Suicidal Tendencies....and not that the bar was very high, but yes ST would be infinitely better than Dead Cross.... ugh. :shred:

    I had given 2 songs a chance
One song I really liked and the other I only finished cause I was typing this
OK, 3rd song was worse than the second

Stam1na..... never heard of these guys but I am kind of liking what I'm hearing actually. The first few songs I checked out on Youtube started off kind of lame.....typical power metal fare...not sure how I feel about clean Finnish vocals......but a lot of the songs seem to get heavier as they go and switch to harsher vocals, some of these songs are heavier throughout. Definitely think I'm gonna try and check out a set to see how they sound live and I'm glad I've got lots of time between now and sailing to get more familiar with these guys.

Next band I think will be The Sword.....who will join DevilDriver in the "bands I used to listen to seven years ago" category  . The Sword would definitely be a one setter for me.....Suicidal Tendencies would be another zero.....just never been able to get into them.

Same - they would be one I'd 'check out to say I've seen then' if I was on, but sure as hell not a deal-sealer for me!

I did see one of Mike's other bands, Infectious Grooves, live once - THAT was a very entertaining show.

ST, The Skull or The Sword would all be 2 setters for me if I were going this year so I hope it's none of them but highly recommend the first 2 in particular if it's one of them.

ST was great here a couple years ago and I can't imagine them suffering with Lombardo on the kit.

For those that don't know (or care haha), The Skull is the new project with old Trouble front man Eric Wagner at the helm. They only have one album out and play a lot of classic Trouble in their sets. If you're into doom, don't miss The Skull.

I sorta tired of The Sword after a couple albums and tours but still a decent band compared to many, many others, tastes depending of course :P
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

Stamina is a big name in Finland, and with there always being lots and lots of Finns onbroad, booking them makes sense. This might come as a shock, but I have never gotten into them.

    As for the S and/or T clue, I think it's either
    a) The S*, or
    b) two bands, one starting with S, one with T

If it's two different bands, I guess it'll be some completely unknown bands that are announced at the same time.
As for The S*, I hope it's The Sirens. That'd raise the likelihood of getting Theatre of Tragedy onbroad. And we might get some Anneke solo performances as well.
The Sirens were supposed to open for Nightwish next month, but were cancelled for some reason. Fair enough, their replacement is Delain, which - even if The Sirens has Anneke and Kari - is an upgrade for me. :beerwink:

The Sirens would make sense. Also The Sorrow - we don't see many Metalcore bands onbroad but it has happened before.

I would suggest for that exact same reason it doesn't make sense. I'm going to assume the Finns, much like everybody else, don't want to travel thousands of miles to see exactly what they can see at home. Case in point, Anthrax. I love Anthrax. But I'm from the east coast. Anthrax play NJ/NYC every 15 minutes. So while I'm a huge fan, I'd much prefer a band on the boat who I'm a lesser fan of, but may never tour my area. Just my $0.02.

If we're talking other projects with singers from The Sirens, it'd be cool to see The Gentle Storm.

I strongly suspect it will be The Sword. Then again, I was certain the last one was Symphony X or Scar Symmetry, so who knows.

Good point. But seeing how practically all Finnish music sites shared the news of Stamina being added to the lineup and I've noticed quite a few friends who haven't been on the cruise starting to plan on going. So while it might not be a deciding factor for anyone to book, it sure gets a lot of publicity for 70k.

If that's the case, it's a smart booking. Despite the fact that the band doesn't interest me, I understand why it makes sense for Andy to make moves like this.

That does make a lot more sense. I guess I'm starting to feel like Zod in that I haven't had an announcement for me since OG (longer for Zod) and then this band I've never heard of pops up and I'm frustrated. I suppose I should be happy I have nap time.

As Memnoch stated, Stam1na is a big name in Finland. I don't think that there are more than five bands that sing in finnish and make their living out of music, but Stam1na is definitely one of them. They work hard and are basicly always on tour when they are out of studio and it shows in their live performance. I tell you, these guys are great live!

When it comes to their albums, at first I tend to find myself disappointed everytime they put out something new, but more and more you listen to their albums, the more they grow. They definitely have their own sound and it might take a while to get used to it, but I urge people to at least listen to a couple of their tracks before moving on. This one would be a great piece to start with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTsGFIG2USA

Now will I catch their set onboard? If there's no overlap and it's before 3 am, sure. But I wont be staying awake for a band that I can see live in my home town at least a couple of times a year. That said, it would be intrigueing to see what kind of response they are going to get. I think that they might be a dark horse Cripper contender.

Precisely. I'm sure the line up will eventually come together in a way we all want, but these long runs can be frustrating, especially when bands are announced that generate a collective "Who?" from the forum. That said, I suspect you may have pulled ahead of me with frustration because I at least got Moonsorrow.

Would like at least one more band for me at some point though.

This is what I love about festivals...sure there might be a collective "Who?" when a band gets announced that not many people have heard of, and there might be a ton of frustration cause you're not getting the bands you love. But at the same point of time it provides the perfect opportunity to check out a band you otherwise would have never have known or have listened to and a chance to expand your Metal Palate!

The bands I would really like to see are Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath (Joey knows this)....but we all know that's probably never going to happen. There are 60 bands on the ship, we aren't even half way through announcements I am sure some bands will be booked that will appease peoples heavier taste buds! At the end of the day it's all Metal, a good majority of us will be intoxicated and at that point it doesn't matter who is playing.

I agree some years the bands I had the least interest in where ones I enjoyed a lot and I love seeing bands I have never heard of before so bring on the CRIPPER contenders after the Suicidial Announcement

I mean... yeah. Draconian and Saltatio Mortis have been pretty sweet for that so far. These guys are not good though :P

I would suggest for that exact same reason it doesn't make sense. I'm going to assume the Finns, much like everybody else, don't want to travel thousands of miles to see exactly what they can see at home.

It's a deciding factor for me to go. :D This my #1 wishlist band. The last of my favourites that I haven't seen. I'm out of my mind excited for this one!

Agreed! This year there isn't nearly as many bands i'm going crazy about as I was last year at the half way point. I like the fact that I will get my main bands in, less likely that they will overlap. There aren't many that seem like total stinkers so it will be good to give other bands a chance, you never know who will stand out.
