    I think I read somewhere that the band announcements are done here in the forum first? I'm guessing on the main thread?

    Yes, Andy ('the Skipper") "owns" that thread. Whether he posts them here first is a matter of some debate, I think.
    The 70K app sends out its notification when the band-page on the 70K website is updated (Slayergeek, is that right?)

    The announcements definitely hit the forum first. Sometimes it is as much as a half an hour from the time it is announced on the forum and the time it hits the main page and social media.

    What I would love (with the website or app) is a few hours where the notification is just "a new band has been added". The best part for me is perusing the artist page to look for the new logo if I averted my eyes before I saw the name, it adds an extra layer of excitement and it feels like christmas morning.
