If any minttu makes it onto the boat, I'd be more than happy to drink it :death:

As there are quite a lot of us Finns attending the cruise, getting some minttu shouldn't be a problem. Been thinking of smuggling some on board myself, Minttu 80% would be great with some cranberry or blackcurrant juice. :P
On the other hand, Minttu Black(the one with salmiakki) would be grand.

 Dont you know any Scandi's Debb?

They are not afraid to get drunk and hold hands and skip down the street. What they do in the privacy of their own home is their business.

There was a wasted  swede metalhead in the vip campground at Wacken 2003 and he could not stay dressed. Just wandered and partied from campsite to campsite totally nude singing "Europe" at the top of his lungs. He got quite annoying and the norwegian chicks in our party tossed him out of our camp area. He was saying how much he hated america and americans and there were 6 americans in our party...

"Fuckbuddies" is just two persons that fuck, alright. Nothing more, nothing less. Just plain fucking. No restrictions of being in love or being partners. I guess it's more common when you're teenagers and in the low twenties. It's called knullkompis (knull-kompis) in Swedish. The first k is not silent.

The "Swedish sin" is highly exaggerated. I doubt we do it more than any other. Why in hell would there be only 9 millions of us then?

Sure a lot of us drink til we pass out but that's an old tradition from ages ago. It goes on from generation to generation. The tradition said when you were guests in somebody's house you eat and drink as much as you could to show the host that you liked what he was serving you. Just good manners.

We don't drink any more than any other Europeans in a week. We just drink it all on one day and the people in Southern Europe drink a little each day. The Finns do the same from what I know.

    Yeah, we do. :D
My family from my father's side is Karelian, and they have a tradition where an empty glass or plate means the guest is left hungry or thirsty. Of course in today's Finland that don't mean anything, but visiting a Karelian house in Russia one must remember to leave a bit on their plates so the host won't have to serve you all he has. The average income in Russia is a lot smaller than in the Nordics, so a good guest won't make the host serve all month's food in an evening. But my family from my mother's side is just as Tobbe explained.

Ah, on to drinking again, please. Anyone know if they have proper absinthe on board? I mean the really good stuff, mainly Spanish brands.

Finnish is not that hard, you know. I've heard that even most small kids know how to speak it, here in Finland that is. :)

    And the same in Finnish:
Ei suomi ole niin vaikeaa. Olen kuullut, että jopa pikkulapset osaavat puhua sitä, täällä Suomessa siis. :)

But I guess Swedish is easier, especially for English speakers since the two languages have lots in common.

Yes, Finnish has nothing in common with them, the only languages close to Finnish and namely the grammar are Estonian and Hungarian. There are some smaller languages related to Finnish, but they have pretty few speakers, maybe Samish and Karelian deserve a mention. Estonians and we Finns understand each other to some extent, but Hungarian is mostly incomprehensible to us.
Due to having a history with Sweden, and Finland having been under Swedish rule for centuries, we have a strong Swedish speaking minority and Swedish is also an official language. That's why all Finns have to learn at least the basics of Swedish.

Finland is not in Scandinavia and they hardly had vikings, if you don't count the Swedish population who went there. Sweden, Norway and Denmark are Scandinavia. In Sweden we don't use double k's, but you knew the word "tack" and that was good though. I guess this topic has turned into a geography and language lesson.
