Shiprocked gets their first bands announced today,using the same number of days before cruise,that would mean in 5 days August 22nd.This would point to some unknown regulation that forced both cruises to wait so long to announce bands.Andy just figured he could wait to sell tickets while Shiprocked couldn’t take the chance.

It is baffling to me how anyone would think Slayer or Iron Maiden would play this cruise (some joke but some think there is a legitimate chance). The gross sales on hot dogs at shows on their recent tours were probably greater than what Andy could offer them to play. Not only that, but they would need to DRASTICALLY downscale their recent live productions, and play to a club sized audience. We've already talked about Amon Amarth being too big for the cruise. Why on Earth is anyone expecting bands like Slayer and Maiden?? They play to crowds of 25,000 or more on a regular basis.

I'm expecting ten bands in the initial announcement (assuming there IS an initial announcement and the cruise is still taking place), but Andy should consider announcing 20 or 30 at this point.
That said, if it were a bunch of "meh" bands I'd probably still book.

MEGADETH was supposed to play on the 2014 Motorboat, and canceled at the last minute.

I've missed the airfare (cheap window) and now I'd be paying $800/900 more, now.
Slayer is calling it quits.

I get that it’s a high draw packaged tour... however, the show near me in Chicago drew 26,000. The same exact lineup without Slayer played an off date in Milwaukee and didn’t sell out a 4500 capacity venue. The main thing getting people out to shows, especially older fans, is that it’s their last chance to see Slayer. The package deal justifies the pricing.

Anthrax headlines small clubs and does co-headline tours. Slayer sells out amphitheaters. Word has it that Anthrax was very difficult to deal with in 2017 as well. Imagine slayer or Megadeth.

The Motorboat chose to draw people in with a handful of really big names, 70K has always gone the route of a large and diverse lineup, with no one really highlighted as a headliner per say. I can't imagine that Slayer will be on the boat. They only played for 6,400 in Houston and I have to say while Slayer's stage show was awesome the chemistry onstage was just plain uncomfortable to watch. Tom is done with Slayer and was talked into one more tour once again. Kerry is pissed at Tom. You could cut the tension on stage with a knife.

Now if Andy has something really big up his sleeve I think the one band that he would have a chance of getting would be Judas Priest. They are celebrating 50 years in 2019 and are planning some special things/shows.

The odds of Andy booking Judas Priest or Slayer or Maiden are next to nil and we're just trying to find excuses for why the announcements are so damn late. Because really, these are the only scenarios in which we would accept such a long period of silence.

At this point Andy might just be waiting until 9/9 for Round 9 regardless of what caused the initial delay. We're not likely to know at this point. I'm still deciding if that's acceptable for me.

Agreed, I’m the one who started this rumor because they said previously (before today’s interview) that for their 50th Anniversary celebration there will be unique shows, and the fact that their only announced show for 2019 is in France 4 days before the cruise is very convenient.
Also, in their current tour JUDAS PRIEST are playing all over the place, including casinos, so they don’t seem too picky about arenas.
That said, I still think SLAYER is more likely, and yes, still not very likely at all.

I share your thoughts, I’ve posted a prediction of a mundane lineup, and no explanation for the delay whatsoever.
Occam’s razor: the simplest explanation for the delay is *NOT* a mega-band requiring to be announced after a certain date.
It may be the same explanation as for:
- No 3rd and 4th day video recaps
- No 2019 megathread on this forum
- No 2019 logo update on the official page

I’ve shared the same sentiment before (see below), but it was about SLAYER having their LAST show onbroad, which we now know won’t happen.
Of course they would have to abide by Andy’s rules, play with Jeff Waters, etc.
