Cruise Protocol Dress Question?

Okay, don't give me too much shit for this question....please....LOL

We've never been on a cruise, but isn't there normally a "Captain's dinner" where everybody dresses up nice?

Or all we just wearing our normal metalhead clothes? Maybe I should pack one nice dress?

Yes, I know it's a silly question, but I just had to ask. Anybody?

actually a good question. The reason i haven't been on a cruise before is because of weird dress code stuff.

I do not know about Royal Carribean because I never cruised with them before but in 2008 on the Carnival Cruise I was on, in the formal dining room I wore a band t-shirt, cammo shorts and black boots....... and nothing was said.

I sat down and the waiter informed me that I could order whatever I wanted off the menu. I ordered all 4 appetizers listed. Tiger Prawn cocktail, french onion soup, potato skins and cheese/garlic bread. For dinner I had sirloin steak and 3 lobster tails

I really do not think that would apply to this cruise.
I have never been on a cruise before, but still this is not your standard cruise.

I never have been one to obey dress codes anyway.
I plan on wearing my usual black jean jacket, jeans, and boots. The same thing I wear everyday to work, or anywhere else I go. Wedding, funeral, work, camping, hiking, walk on the beach at night, show, park, movie, shopping, out to dinner, meetings....

On any cruise I have ever been on there is a dress up night, if not two. They would like you to dress up, however, they DO NOT enforce it. If you wish to wear shorts and a t-shirt go for it.

I was on a music cruise in 2008 and they wanted to remove a band from the dinning area do to what they where wearing but on that cruise we were only 200 out of 3,000
i do not see a problem on this one
no holds bared
if they do reject you their are plenty of other places to eat on the boat
if you want to doll up, go ahead with that as well
the hole point is to enjoy and have fun

Trust me, you will eat and eat a lot. Thats one of the best things about going on a cruise ship, you eat like a king.

I did ask this question to the cruise line. They advised that this was a special cruise and that it would be different than normal dress codes. As long as you have a shirt and pants on, you will have no problem of getting seated FYI

What are the rules about bathing suits? Is walking around the ship in a bikini a faux-pas?

Also, maybe a stupid question but being that we'll be in tropical weather I thought it'd be a fair question... what sort of footwear is both moshpit, tropical weather and cruise ship appropriate? Sandals in moshpits = bad news bears. Combats in hot weather = death.

I think formal for this cruise is a shower..clean underwear...a band tshirt ...shorts..and some flip flops for the guys! hahah
The girls just have to wear a swim suit ..hahaha
I have been on a few cruises... dress up if ya want ..lots of people dont.. They really dont care.
The only issue we had was on a Royal, my brother (who is 300lbs plus) didnt bring any dress pants to the special resturant (you pay extra to eat there, like $20 per stateroom). They told him he had to go change. He was pissed.. he only had jeans. So he couldnt stay. I think its a bunch of bs ... I dont think this will be an issue on this cruise..

Sooo...I think you can wear your swimsuit anywhere but the more formal dining hall for dinner. Um, and I think everyone will appreciate you walking around everywhere in your bikini! Raaooowww!

I don't want to mosh on this cruise so hope no one steps on my sandaled feets!
