No - trying to find reference to that. I bitched about it for so long I gave up bitching about it.ShoreSlayer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 4:17 pmNo DVD
Anyone ever get a schwag bag in their cabin? I thought those were promised or hinted at at one point but can't recall ever getting one myself

It's so much closer to xmas/new years too which surely will reduce the number of bands willing to go. Christmas obligations and family stuff and such.TPH wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 2:55 amMy personal opinion: it's just harder and harder to find big/good names willing to come on the boat, and they are unable to assemble their line-up for 2020. Just remember last year, Napalm Death joined at the very last minute and they were asked just a few days before the cruise (Barney even joked about it on stage); so, UMC were still looking after decent sized bands at the 11th hour, and they didn't have a complete line-up just days before leaving. And, to be honest, last year's lineup was already really weak in my opinion.
The above post may be a complete pile of shit, I can be completely wrong. We'll never know, unless someone from UMC shows some basic respect for their customers, and tell people WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON - just saying.
This is a very real possibility, especially with cruise dates near the holiday. Every band I've talked to on the boat (which, admittedly, isn't a ton) have said that the best case scenario for 70K is that they break even. Most of them talked about how much money they and/or their label lost by being on board.TPH wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 2:55 amMy personal opinion: it's just harder and harder to find big/good names willing to come on the boat, and they are unable to assemble their line-up for 2020. Well, i tend to disagree about this being the real reason for absence of announcements. Even if Andy is struggling to shape the lineup, i am quite sure he has at least 10-15 bands he can start to announce, then fill the rest in-between SOONs.Gratch wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 7:53 amThis is a very real possibility, especially with cruise dates near the holiday. It's entirely possible that Andy's gotten a ton of "nopes" and is simply scrambling to find anyone who can fill the void.
I didn’t even see that post ,which reminds me 70k isn’t boosting their posts on Facebook (they have to pay for that) ,they never show up in my feed anymore. So I guess this YouTube thing was just another way to buy a couple of days without any real news.bbqmonster wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 10:19 amThe same video is on Facebook just it was posted on September 20th. UGGGH!!
Just go to their facebook page. It is the last post they made. Which was September 20thdeathmetalpat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 11:34 amI didn’t even see that post ,which reminds me 70k isn’t boosting their posts on Facebook (they have to pay for that) ,they never show up in my feed anymore. So I guess this YouTube thing was just another way to buy a couple of days without any real news.bbqmonster wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 10:19 amThe same video is on Facebook just it was posted on September 20th. Seems they have updated it now.PotatoPotahto wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 1:41 pmSlightly less noticed thing: The video they have embedded on the landing page (www.70000tons.com) is still the 2018 aftermovie, they haven't updated it to the 2019 one yet even though that video has been made/published for 10 days.
Thanks Caitlin!Ravenlord wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 4:06 pmSeems they have updated it now.PotatoPotahto wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 1:41 pmSlightly less noticed thing: The video they have embedded on the landing page (www.70000tons.com) is still the 2018 aftermovie, they haven't updated it to the 2019 one yet even though that video has been made/published for 10 days.
It will weed out a lot of international cruisers to, due to the limited time to get organised, the increased cost in flights, and declining exchange rates against the US. Even if the internationals can make it, the increased costs would mean that they would have less disposable income to spend on the abovementioned beer and merch.deathmetalpat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 4:36 pmThanks Caitlin!Ravenlord wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 4:06 pmSeems they have updated it now.PotatoPotahto wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 1:41 pmSlightly less noticed thing: The video they have embedded on the landing page (www.70000tons.com) is still the 2018 aftermovie, they haven't updated it to the 2019 one yet even though that video has been made/published for 10 days.
It seems they are active here and checking in on the posts at least. At this point the ship itself has to be locked in and paid for (or at least a line of credit for about $2,000,000).So here is my theory, they wanted to weed out families and some of the less dedicated veterans to be replaced by newer people.70k of kids and wives don’t spend the amount of money on beer and merch as 70k of Metalheads.Think of it as “The Replacement Cruiser Theory “ ,it had to happen eventually because if younger people never got on the ship the cruise would just become 70k of Retirement Home,or as cruising as known as “The Newlywed and Nearly Dead”
