I've been trying to find out from Jed if he's planning on coming along even just as a passenger to hang with his bros in FF but be doesn't return my FB msgs. I don't quite have that Evil Red level of cool factor to warrant acknowledgment from the greats

There are likely several other factors besides just "cool" that warrant a response to Red and not you... :D

Nevermore is nice but we need more Prog Metal!

    1. Vanden Plas (Nevermore is nice but we need more Prog Metal!)
    2. Symphony X (Did I already say that Nevermore is nice but we need more Prog Metal?)
    3. Dimmu Borgir
    4. Turisas (There are already a lot of Viking/Folk Metal bands on board but I love it)
    5. Wintersun (Unrealistic but this would make my day)
    6. Alestorm
    7. Sabaton
    8. Soulfly
    9. Hammerfall
    10. Freedom Call

Honorable mention of bands which are probably too big: Volbeat, Blind Guardian, Slayer, Motorhead, Dream Theater
Honorable mention of bands which are definitely too big: Rammstein, Manowar, Iron Maiden
    2018 booked! Deck 10, cabin 1564.
Lineup is already fantastic but could be even better with Ensiferum, Vanden Plas, Lord Of The Lost, Darkhaus and Powerwolf.

There are about 8-10 Heavy Metal 24-hour cruises from Stockholm, Sweden to Turku, Finland every year. Sweden Rock twice, Close-Up Magazine twice, Rock At Sea twice and Rockklassiker (Rock Classics Radio) and then cruises just like Sabaton's in december or HammerFall's last year. Luckily I'm living in Stockholm.

Damn, I need to get over there. We have fuckall in Canada for that kind of thing. Least that I know of. I'm lucky I found out about this cruise at Stratovarius over a year ago. Maybe something like that could happen out of Vancouver in the future if this goes well :viking:

Gorefest would be nice, but they are over and done with. Never got a chance to see them play. God Dethroned would fit in nicely :deathmetal:

Hail of Bullets will be playing at MDF 2011 so I'll at least have a chance to see them in the states.

I still say Coroner, Bloodbath & My Dying Bride would be a amazing "coupe" since those bands never had/barely ever played here in the US. At a minimum it would be a great "selling point" for people to splurge on the remaining expensive cabins.

Then again I'm way to freakin' optimistic.

Well Gandalf will probably be flamed for liking In Flames but I am a fan of Mutiny Within so I won't be judging haha. I've never got what everyones problem with Hammerfall is. Its CHEESE It's awesome delicious CHEESE. If you're not into cheese don't put it on your sandwich but don't tell other people that eating cheese is stupid. No offense intended of course, no two people have identical tastes in metal.

Opeth and Blind Guardian seem to have made almost every list I've read as well, I just hope like hell that the organizers actually read these threads, otherwise we're all just banging our heads against a wall here. :deathmetal: It's been almost 2 weeks lets get on with announcements!

Hammerfall could possibly be the cheesiest metal band on the planet, I will buy anyone a drink if they can show me a song cheesier than "Hearts On Fire" by someone other than hammerfall (/thread?).

I don't have a problem with In Flames, I'm not exactly into them but theres a few people on this forum that have the mindset "Nu-Metal/Metalcore is not metal". Personally I think that is just a snobby attitude to have, although they do have in general very separated audiences.

Back on topic, I already gave my list but I forgot to mention 2 bands:
    Firewind
    Powerglove

yeah, yeah VG Metal probably isn't a great fit but they are super awesome guys to hang out with, especially if your as big of a nerd as I am (which I know many of you are). Firewind probably is unlikely as Ozzy/Firewind are touring a lot for the next little bit, no scheduling conflicts with the cruise that I can see. Maybe we'll get both Firewind and Ozzy onboard...nah thats just wishful thinking.

Firewind would be excellent :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: !!! Powerglove is great fun live, but there is only so much room on the boat. I would rather fill it with GWAR'S foam props that Powerglove's.

Although we REALLY do enjoy those "grinder sisters".....Havent seen them in a while Craig! ;) ;) :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger:

Powerglove would be a blast. I've seen 'em a few times now and they always put on a great show. Very Swashbuckle-esque.

And a song cheesier than "Hearts on Fire". . .maybe 'The Book of Heavy Metal' by Dream Evil?

So Many Milwaukee MetalFest peps :) been to i think 6 of them.
4 ( Death Angel, Forbidden, Realm, Santcuary,Morbid Angel, Deicide, cannibal corpse) and 4 1/2(Sepulturia, Obituary, Sadus, Immolation, Broken Hope) where probably my favorites!
seen another with Anal Cunt, Deicide, Incantation, gorguts, Cannible Corpse, that was pretty cool as well. I think that was to be Moterhead as a headliner and nvr showed up so Morbid Angel played for like 2 hours and where amaizing!!!
