Damn! That is fucking awesome! Have you travelled pretty far to see them play before as well? The first time I was SUPPOSED to see Ensiferum, one of my friends didn't handle pre drinking before the show so well and I remember straining to hear them as I was holding her hair back over a toilet in the bathroom. Ugh. SHOULD have been three but I've only physically seen them twice.

    @ Evican
Epica :headbanger: ...although I've seen them more then enough since they started. I'll sure check them out at least once on this trip. Personally one of the better metalbands that my little country has produced and exported abroad.

All I hope for is that Within Temptation doesn't join this cruise.

I was determined to see them before they broke up like After Forever did, seeing as it took Nightwish five studio albums before they toured Australia too. Still not happy I didn't get to see AF before they broke up. I have Dutch heritage and asked Mark and Simone how to properly pronounce my surname and asked what it translated into. They had a nice laugh about it. Still not sure if I believe them though! Haha.

I share your view on Within Temptation.

Well I do know that Mark is working on a new project with some of his former-buddies from After Forever. The debutalbum is sheduled to be released in May 2011. I hope this will not be the end for Epica. You can try and pickup After Forever's Floor Jansen her new band named ReVamp. And Nightwish lost me when I saw and heard Anette sing. Missing the opera-sound in her voice.

Now I'm wondering what your surname is. :P

Oh,very nice 1st experience with Enska, haha! Btw I've seen them already in Hungary,Austria,Germany,Scotland and Finland and this will the farthest show ;)
I'm so curious on Fear Feactory,Iced Earth and Amon Amarth!!!! :viking: not so much on Epica,as I found a little boring while I listened their songs but a live show can change my mind easily

Yeah, MaYan. They don't have any music up on Myspace the last time I checked.

I hung out with Mark in February and he was saying that Epica is not over yet and they don't have any plans to cease making new albums. :headbanger:
As for ReVamp... I'm not a fan. Floor's voice is as amazing as ever, but the music has lost me. It's just not interesting enough. And they lose points for covering Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance". I know what you mean about Anette. I've seen them with Tarja and Anette and with Anette they just seem so much happier on stage. But who knows what's going to happen now as she's pregnant! Haha.

Agree with you 100% on AF and ReVamp. The music on the ReVamp album is just... not there. Maybe they are just finding their feet and the second album will be better.

I've seen Nightwish 8 times (6 with Tarja, 2 with Annette) and while I adore Tarja I think Nightwish are more of a 'complete' band without her. Her new solo album is not too shabby - not a patch on Dark Passion Play though :) Would be great to have them along for the cruise but given how long they take in the studio they'll probably still be recording the new album in January :p

Have to disagree on the Within Temptation anti-love though. They are high on my list of 'must see' bands that I've yet to see - not quite at the top (below Edguy/Avantasia and kamelot) but right up there. Would love to see them on this cruise - cannot see it happening though. Hopefully they will make it to Australia next tour.

I would have loved to see After Forever. Hell, I would be happy if ReVamp were going to be on the ship purely because it would mean that I'd get to meet Floor. But no Lady Gaga covers! Haha! I hope that's the case and the second album is better. I'll give it a good listen, that's for sure.

Did you follow them around the country when they were first out here in 2005? I had a ticket to the Brisbane show, but couldn't get the time off work and had to sell it! I would also love to see them on the ship, but you're right that the liklihood of that happening is slim.

No way! They sound like Delta Goodrem fronting a slightly heavier and more boring Evanescence.

HAHAHA - yeeeah WT have gone through changes over the years. Their early stuff is brilliant. Was not a fan of The Silent Force, but The Heart of Everything was a step back in the right direction.

And yeah - I saw Nightwish at Sweden Rock and Rockwave Athens in 2004, then when they came to Australia in 2005 I drove to Melbourne and saw both gigs, then to Sydney, then back home to Brisbane. Then on the DPP tour I only saw them twice - Sydney and Brisbane.

Well it is her second child, I'm not sure if the last one affected her that much but I know that her being pregnant is the reason she cancelled her solo album/tour but they have been recording all summer so I'm assuming they intend to tour right after, at least lets hope! :headbanger:

The Heart Of Everything had a few "good" songs, but nothing that I really went "Wow!" at. I love female fronted metal bands, but there are too many of them that sound the same.

So lucky! You got to see Over The Hills And Far Away in Melbourne. They played Ghost Love Score in Sydney instead, which is better, but OTHAFA is awesome too.

Anette's voice sounds tired and nothing like what it sounded on the night. Hopefully it's strengthened and she'll be better next tour.

Mate I was blown away when the played Over The Hills!! I'm an oldie - I can remember seeing the original Gary Moore video for it on some Australian video hits type show when it first came out back in the 80s. Love that song :)

I'm with you on the female fronted - so much good stuff out there!! Glad Epica are on the cruise though, they are my favourite :)

And Moshcam is an awesome feature. Watched a few gigs on there.

Nightwish's version is better though, I think. Gary Moore's is a bit boring in comparison.

Well when Ice Queen (from the Mother Earth album) skyrocketed into the charts around the early 00's it was nothing but WT this....WT that.
Personally I think it is a nice export product and a nice band for kids to get to know there is more then rap/dance and other voice-edited music. ;)

And Epica is the reason how I found out about this cozy cruise. Time flies when I first saw them in a small venue in dec 2003.
Never heard a bad album or seen a bad live performance of them. I'll be there at least to one of their sets. :headbanger:

Evican wrote:Have to disagree on the Within Temptation anti-love though. They are high on my list of 'must see' bands that I've yet to see - not quite at the top (below Edguy/Avantasia and kamelot) but right up there. Would love to see them on this cruise - cannot see it happening though.

Have you seen the Black Symphony -DVD? Amazing, especially Somewhere which Sharon sings with Anneke.

I've been somewhat in love with Within Temptation since their first album, Enter, and still consider them one of my favorites. Yes, they've gone a long way since the beginning, but almost every good band does. Within Temptation is one of the best live bands I know, and I will most definitely go see them when they come here again - already seen them five times now.

ReVamp is one of the better femme metal acts around, and Floor has such energy on stage. Love her.
As for Epica, Mark told me they might play Crystal Mountain on the cruise. That would be great.

    i can't see re-vamp on this cruise. I like re-vamp though.
only way i can see re-vamp on the cruise is if floor also performs song from after forever....

as for within temptation, I don't know.... on one hand I would like them very much on the cruise because I like them and i have never seen them live before. But on the other hand, are they "metal" enough?? if I have to choose between within temptation or (just for example) Turisas, I would choose Turisas. (first wanted to say, dethklok or heidevolk, but that would be to obivious ;-)
