Which song you're most looking forward to...

    by Val » Fri Dec 24, 2010 10:12 pm

Since so many of my favorite bands are on this cruise, I find myself wondering which one song will leave the biggest metal mark... After all, I'll be flashing back to this cruise for years to come, telling stories and rambling on about how cool it all was and how much chaotic fun I had.

So, I'm curious... Does anyone else have one particular song that you can't wait to hear/see live?

I think mine is probably either "Die For My Sins" by Sanctuary or "Watching Over Me" by Iced Earth.

God, this is gonna be cool.

    :death: :shred:

I encourage all hardcore Nevermore, Sanctuary, and Iced Earth fans to get in touch with me.. I'd like to hang with others that are really passionate about those bands, as they are amongst my favs.

    FOUR MORE WEEKS !!!
All the *great* comedians are dead... George Carlin - dead, Rodney Dangerfield - dead, Greg Giraldo - dead.... Lisa Lampanelli............................. still alive.

I'd Die For You - Iced Earth
Dreamless (Lucifer and Lilith) - Moonspell
    Dracul Va Domni - Marduk
    Slowly We Rot - Obituary
    Piranha - Exodus
    Amon Amarth - Amon Amarth

Ahh, Sentient 6 by Nevermore is so cool... I was surprised they put it on the live record, as it doesn't really seem like the kind of song they'd play live (nor have I seen them play it any of the times I saw them before).

I Died FOr You by Iced is awesome, too... That's another favorite of mine.

I can't wait to hear Future Tense during Sanctuary's set, love that song :D I'd also like to hear Into the Storm by BG since they didn't play that for us on this tour. And Korpiklaani's Cottages and Saunas is always epic

Yeah, this has to be one of the tougher questions posed here. I mean, just ONE???

I can think of LOTS of Trouble songs but many that I doubt they'll be doing without Eric so I guess I'll go with Raven's Run Silent Run Deep
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

Yeah, both of those songs are really badass... I was surprised at how much I like the "Mechanize" CD by Fear Factory. I like it about as much as I like "Demanufacture", and that's a classic to me.

Well the entire Sanctuary set (or two). But if I had to pick one song:

Amon Amarth - Guardians of Asgaard
First song I heard by Amon Amarth, got me hooked on them.

    Others:
    Sonata Arctica - Full Moon
Gamma Ray - Send Me A Sign
    Korpiklaani - Happy Little Boozer
Blind Guardian - Bright Eyes (didn't get that in Calgary, lucky Edmonton guys got it)
    Blind Guardian - Valkyries
Dark Tranquility - Terminus (had to miss this song when I saw them cause I went with a girl and she had to leave. grrrrr)
Uli Jon Roth - We'll Burn The Sky/Sails of Charon/In Trance/Pictured Life (all my favourite Scorpions stuff is pre-breakup, hoping he plays lots of that.)
Does anyone know who's going to be singing for Uli or does he do his own vocals?

Want to know how big a fan I am? I know for a fact that they have not played this song since March 24th, 2002 in Brazil (and they only played it twice before realizing it didn't sound good live). Besides the stuff on the newest album, I think it's one of the only songs that I've never seen them play live (along with 'Ain't Your Fairytale', 'The Ruins of My Life', 'The Harvest', 'Destruction Preventer') that they've played on more than one occasion.

There are quite a few songs they've never played live ('My Selene', 'The Vice', 'My Dreams But A Drop of Fuel For A Nightmare', 'Fly With The Black Swan', 'Breathing' 'Zeroes') that I'd love to see them debut on the ship ('Zeroes' being my absolute favorite song on the new album).

I'm pretty sure I saw them play "Fly with the Black Swan" at a gig in New Hampshire. I could be wrong, it's happened once or twice before.

'Fly With The Black Swan' has never been played live. I think it's their worst song on that album, so maybe that's a good thing.

Sorry to derail the thread with my Sonata Arctica talk, back to the original topic:

Also looking forward to Sabaton '40:1'.

'Fly With The Black Swan' has never been played live. I think it's their worst song on that album, so maybe that's a good thing.

Sorry to derail the thread with my Sonata Arctica talk, back to the original topic:

Also looking forward to Sabaton '40:1'.

I wouldn't call the forum an official list of what they've played, but it's very possible I'm just misremembering (wait, this is really a word that doesn't show up in the spellcheck?) the show. Regardless, I'd rather not see them play it anyways. I'd go with "The Worlds Forgotten, the Words Forbidden" as the worst off of Unia, and I know for a fact they played that one. I distinctly remember because Tony introduced it as "something way different" and it basically got a collective groan from the crowd. The band afterwards all had looks on their faces like "Well, I guess we're never playing that one again" It was pretty funny. "White Pearl, Black Oceans" is without a doubt what I want to see them play the most.

I can't find a setlist for that New Hampshire show, but I know exactly where you're talking about. It was the one in Bedford, right? That's one of the only setlists I can't track down from that tour ::grumblegrumblegrumble::

The medley with 'Destruction Preventer' is actually on the 'For The Sake of Revenge' DVD. I assume they don't play the whole thing live because I doubt Tony could hit those notes anymore, same reason why they never played 'The Vice'.

And I love Unia!! It's my favorite album. 'Fly With The Black Swan' is, in my opinion, the only subpar song on the entire thing. And that album sounds better live than any of their other ones. I could go on talking about this forever, but everyone'll just end up hating me.

POWER METAL

cool - seems like I have to watch this DVD after all
Unia - meh, it's somehow "wanna-be-progressive", doesn't work for me
but let's stop rambling about SA for a while - we can do that with a beer in our hand, shades on our noses and 70'000 tons of metal under our asses

Yeah, in Bedford next to the strip club. I'm not surprised the setlist isn't available. The club is really small so not many people were ever there (I saw After Forever there and I counted no more than 20 people. Shows are no longer held at that venue - I blame the awful security at that place. It was much less of a hassle to just go to The Palladium in Worcester were you weren't treated like a convict during and after the show.) I've seen Sonata a few times there and one time the strippers actually came out and started dancing on the stage. Jani enjoyed it very much. The rest of the band was somehow a little less amused. I guess the strippers were stealing the band's thunder
