Do you remember Anansi in the book? Gaiman has another book called Anansi Boys that's a great one too, let me know if you want to borrow it

So, did they ever finish that saga? I heard about how Robert Jordan passed away before he could finish it himself.

I'm glad I discovered Robert Jordan shortly after Eye Of The World Came Out... I'd NEVER be able to finish the whole series if I discovered it now! Good job crushing them as you have! Those aren't exactly small books

I discovered the Wheel of time when there were already 9-10 books. I think it took me at least a year to read them all, also because I got stuck around no. 7 or 8, as it started getting confusing, but I'm glad I didn't give up :)

I'm just glad that Robert Jordan planned ahead enough to make it possible to finish the story! I just imagine having no closure after reading it since I was 10... that'd suck
gnoff wrote:I expected RJ to die before he finished it, stopped reading after book 7 years ago, picked them up again this year when I realized it would still get finished due to one of his disciples.
It was suppsosed to stop at 12 books, but the disciple wanted the last one to be the last three, haha, well, waiting for the last one to come out

Right now I'm re-reading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Currently on book 5, "Wolves of the Calla". After I finish these books, I plan on checking out Tad Williams. Starting with the Otherworld series. Seems to be his flagship publication if my friend can be believed.

That's what keeps me from reading series until they're done. Or watching tv or movie series, as well.
Oh wow, new emoticons.

If you're RE-reading those and haven't already, be sure to read the books he wrote with Peter Straub - The Talisman and Black House
And if you read that fast and want some quality stuff, pick up any of Stephen R. Donaldson's Covenant Chronicles (9 books fantasy), Gap Series (5 books sci-fi) or Mordant's Need (2 books fantasy). He also did some Private Eye stuff but I didn't love it as much as the others

EvilDan wrote:Finished American Gods, and I enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty predictable, but still an interesting read.
Now, on to some videogames!
gnoff wrote:ShoreSlayer wrote:Speaking of sci-fi and Donaldson in the same post, have you read his sci-fi series? 5 books called the Gap Series beginning with one called The Real Story... Most enjoyable read of my life. Will probably read them for the 4th time sometime this year.
Nope, never seen them around, but sounds like I should check that out too :)

The 13th book is waiting for me at the library, need to picj it up one of theses days.
In the time until then reading the prequel "New Spring"

Metalwrath wrote:Neary finished Feast of Crows.
I have to say it's deffintly the worst of all the books.
Has it's moments here and there but compared to the rest of the books it's quite boring.
I think the characters were poorly divided between Feast of Crows and Dance with Dragons but i'm assuming there was a reason for that in terms of the story.
Really looking forward to it and geting onto reading Dance with Dragons.
