I forgot to check in during my pit stop today but I have successfully made it to Omaha. This marks the halfway point of my journey home. Was sad to leave Denver as I had a fantastic time with everyone but tomorrow night will be just as kick ass.

I was worried about this leg as Rhia talked up Nebraska as the worst drive ever. It really wasn't that bad. I thought the eastern part of Colorado once I got out of Denver all the way to the border was worse. Very flat and brown. Nebraska at least had some green here and there and a few trees. Not as much corn as I would expect from the Cornhusker State. Nebraska, I am disappoint. My pit stop was in some podunk town called North Platte. Even the gas station had a sign stating that you were in the middle of nowhere! The second leg of the journey went by fairly quickly, surprisingly, though I did hit one traffic jam as a lane on the highway was closed. Note to Nebraskans: Learn how to merge. :roll:

I'm now at the hotel in Omaha watching some cartoons and getting ready for bed. Early to Chicago tomorrow!

The music for the trip from Denver to Omaha was Kampfar during the first leg and Korpiklaani during the second. Really helped time go by.

We walked from her place to a British pub and had some good food although the beers were pretty hit or miss. Then we headed over to a bar that had a whole bunch of beers on tap. Enjoyed a couple of good ones there. Next up was an old school arcade that had really cheap booze. I managed to set the high score on Dr. Mario but I was absolutely terrible. The b button didn't work and that's the one I almost always used so I had to rely on the A button which rotates the pills in the opposite direction from what I'm used to. Confused me a lot but it was still a blast. Also enjoyed playing the old X-Men game (Nightcrawler FTW).

From the arcade we went to check out Oktoberfest which was pretty lame. Nick got some Spaetzl but it was not that great and there were too many people and things were overpriced. We weren't there very long. Then it was off to a liquor store near Rhia's place where she knows the manager. She got a lot of booze at a ridiculous discount. Back at Rhia's it was time to drink some more, listen to some metal, and watch some crazy youtube videos. Good times were had by all.

I'll be leaving later this morning for the second leg of my journey. It won't be a full day marathon like the first leg (only should take about 8 hours) but I worry this will be really boring. No more mountains and awesome rock formations. Just flat land all the way through Nebraska. My destination is Omaha where I'll crash at a hotel before heading up to Chicago tomorrow morning.

It was awesome! :lol:

Pit stop in Iowa City, Iowa. I think I'm halfway to Chicago. Lots of college girls walking around as I'm near The University of Iowa :cool:

Encountered my first rain of the trip. It's the first time I've driven in rain since April :lol:

It's done well cleaning all the bugs and bird shit off my car. It's windy and really chilly too! I love it.

Iowa has a lot of truckers. It's pretty damn obnoxious. They keep getting in my way :evil:

All the people here seem really depressed too

Next stop should be at Nekrobarr's place in Chicago

On the train home after almost 2 hours of hanging with Matt & Ryan at the bar/restaurant next to Reggie's (and four Hacker-Pschorrs) - FUN!! :whisky:

Not going to the Sabaton/Evergrey show with them since I've got 4 gigs already in the next month which are already making me - turning-into-a-pumpkin worthy - (a la Cinderella). :lol:

Look for vaderite (first time 2012 cruiser) - I know u don't know what she looks like - but I ran into her outside when I was leaving and she knows Matt from the Doro gig so she should be by him at some point I suspect. She's a huge Samael fan (had a Samael hoodie on the Doro night) and we kinda bonded over that I think. :metalguy:

The show last night was awesome! We missed The Absence because we were hanging out with Laura but got to see everyone else. It was a blast! So good to see Sabaton again. I did meet Noelolz and long haired aaron at the show too.

After the show we went for a couple drinks at the bar and a couple turned into a lot really quickly as all the bands came in and it was party time! :party:

All the bands got really, really drunk.

I might actually still be drunk. :stagger:

It's looking more and more likely that I'll stay in Chicago tonight too because I'm just not up for a drive at the moment (the whole still kinda drunk thing). I haven't booked a hotel room for tonight so no loss if I stay an extra day.

I have recovered from an epic hangover and am just waiting for traffic to die down before starting the next leg of my journey. The next stop was going to be Buffalo because I want to see Niagara Falls but the forecast looks pretty shitty so I'll have to see them on a future trip. Instead I'm heading to Jamestown, New York. Apparently it's the home of Lucille Ball! I love Lucy was hilarious and one of my former coworkers is obsessed with her. Man, he will be jealous once he hears of this. :lol:

Stopped in the Toledo area to have lunch with Bentz! Easy drive this morning. No traffic but lots of tolls. Damn that was expensive. :bitch:

weather has been off and on raining but nothing too bad. Just over halfway to Jamestown.
