The latest pictures I had seen of him, he looked terrible. I think it was just when he had stepped down from his post at Apple. I'm typing this up on a Mac right now! Sad to see him go.

Love this quote by him...

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Great quote... one of the most intelligent speeches I've heard, along with the one from Randy Pausch

FORBIDDEN guitarist & GuitarWorld.com columnist Steve Smyth has posted the following message on his websites:

“I wish to convey my deepest condolences for the loss of Steve Jobs, a visionary and in my opinion, the most forward-thinking genius of our lifetime so far.

“I'll remember him most for his undeniable contributions to the computing world, changes that led me away from being an ordinary PC user to a staunch Apple products user, who is still learning to find the boundaries of seemingly limitless capability that these products serve in my everyday life, from personal to business.

“As a professional musician and music teacher, I use his G4 laptop, MacBook Pro, iPod, or mobile phone every day in my music business on some level, whether it be creating, recording, playing back demos/takes/mixes, or teaching, transcribing, and writing.

“None of the ease, I have come to find - with Mr. Job's wonderful and forward-thinking contributions - could ever be found in any comparable product. Apple was always the first, the innovator in all-areas media in recent times. A feat I hope they are able to continue into the future as well.

“Rest In Peace Mr. Steve Jobs, and know that the very goal you set out to accomplish has been achieved. The world is indeed a better place because of your efforts.”

"Everyone hyperventilating, repeat after me: I am not defined by the products I buy. My computer is not a part of my identity. My computer is a tool. And like all tools, it's only useful if I make it useful. A brand is not a lifestyle. I don't owe gratitude to a billionaire I helped create. Steve Jobs was a business man who charged exhorbitantly for his products. He didn't do us any favors. He didn't make us. We made him."-Maddox

I hate Apple products and refuse to use them, but I won't say that Steve Jobs wasn't a genius in the realm of technology and in business. RIP

That's absolutely perfect!!

I've always thought the Maddox stuff was pretty damn funny and, at times, intelligent. Some of his rants are so damn spot on, but the delivery is hilarious.

 Holy crap that's hilarious. I'm by no means an Apple fanboy, hell I only got a mac back when Windows Vista was released because Microsoft was pulling support for XP and no fucking way was I gonna use Vista. I'm really happy with it. I've had my laptop for over 4 years now and it's still running great.

Yeah, I'm pretty much neutral on the Apple-Pc thing, but got an Imac because Vista was driving me crazy on my laptop so I was for sure not going to get a desktop with it. I've since gone to Windows 7 on the laptop and like it a lot more, so I use both.

I guess this kills my ambition for a South Park episode where Cartman goes to a future where everything begins with i or Google. Dammit! Why did that bastard have to die before I could make fun of him one more time?

I'm not one of those proclaiming that he has been the bringer of all greatness in this world - but he has been a great visionary and it's no secret that without him the landscape of the "computer world" would look much different today...ant that's meant as a compliment! - kudos to Steve Jobs!
