"Having" a penalty refers to being penalized and being shorthanded. Having a powerplay refers to having the advantage or the other team being penalized.

Well, the entire league is to find out whose Canadian players are better. It used to be worse, but there are more Americans and Europeans than before.

It kind of reminds me of the Red River Rivalry when we find out if Texas or oklahoma has the best Texas football players.

Yeah, it definitely used to be more Canadian dominated. Then the European wave began and there was a shift and despite how much I like to give Ryan the gears about any hockey related stuff I can come up with, the US has contributed some amazing players in the past 20 years as the sport has become more popular down there. I used to love the Canada/Russia rivalry in international competition but the Canada/US rivalry has really become the better one in recent years. Sweden and Finland also ice some great teams. I can't wait for the tourney to start! Screw xmas, bring on BOXING DAY!!! :headbanger:

I remember earlier in the year when the Stars played 1 game in 12 days early in the season, which just does not make sense to me, especially when those days are far more valuable during the season. So of course, when the Stars have a bunch of injuries, they get to go on a 5 games in 8 days roadtrip that hits both fucking coasts. :shock:

How the fuck does that make any sense? They've had quite a few 3 games in 4 days stuff too. Travel for Western conference teams, especially Dallas in the Pacific, is just fucking brutal. In the East, not only is it all in the same timezone, but almost all their road trips are less taxing than a single away game for Dallas. Realignment will help, but certainly isn't a cure-all.

Damn, I had a bunch more thoughts, but can't think. Maybe later when I've fully woken up.

Even the Bruins have had an odd schedule this season too. Maybe I never really noticed in past years because I was following basketball at the same time so it broke up the hockey breaks but it does seem weird to me. Sounds brutal for Dallas.

Looks like Lucic got suspended for tonight's game against the Habs. Didn't see most of the game against the Flyers but sounded like broading? and I'm assuming his previous incident in Buffalo aided in the suspension.

Just saw video of it. Definitely think the suspension is just a makeup call for the Miller hit. Whatever, shouldn't be needed tonight. I'll be very surprised if the Habs win.
