Nocturnal Rites need to play some shows outside of Sweden! Unless they play Sweden Rock Festival of course, because I intend to be there.

Manowar were booked for Getaway many months ago.
The announcements for that festival were delayed because of soem change over of management as whatever company was previously running Getaway rock festival went insolvent.

First bands announced:
Manowar
Nightwish
Ministry
Raubtier
Anathema

Thank you gnoff!!
Ok. This one is now on my radar. The timing of this is better than Tuska since I end up having to take the first two weeks of July off for automotive plant's shutdown most every year. I wouldn't have to use any extra vacation days to do this. I'll keep an eye on the lineup, but seeing Manowar in a festival setting seems pretty sweet.

Any idea on what some good accommodations for this festival would be?

I'd love to go, but it's just not going to happen :-(

Also according to the Sweden Rock site, Blind Guardian are another one of the bands playing.

I highly recommend this festival. I was there in 2010 and enjoyed it a lot. It's small so you all the bands very well, you can see the stage from the bar as well  We stayed in a hotel in the city center, many bands were staying there as well. It was a half an hour walk to the festival area. Now I don't rememeber the name of the hotel, but I can look it up for you if you want. We got a good price too :)

Saw Soundgarden live 2 or 3 times and his voice was shit every time. I really like his studio work and lyric writing but really must have caught him at the wrong times cuz I just grew to dread hearing him perform despite digging the band a lot :?

Well, I was sold on Sweden Rock till Motley were announced as headliners and promptly lost all interest, but now the lineup is rounding out nicely. When does it usually sell out ?

This site:
http://www.excits.se/sweden-rock-festival_.html

Seems to sell "all in packages"

I've never used it myself and can not tell you how good or safe it is, but it was linked from the official SRF page, so "should" be OK

Example text:
As Sweden Rocks Official Partner provides eXcits worldwide unique hotel package that includes 4-day tickets, accommodation and transfers. Choose from several different hotels.

They seem also to have only "accomodation" only if that is preferable

Sweden Rock Festival denied Viathyn. It is officially on my shit list
See you all on 70K 2014! :deathhorns:

Yep, I'll go see them so I can tell Kevin I did :viking:

:headbanger:

And about Sweden Rock this year...not sure yet.
Graspop is in the same month and is my "home" for like 8 years in a row (skipped 2006 due to miscalculated vacation).
But having a Swedish girlfriend makes Sweden Rock an option some day. ;)
