What first got you into metal?
A friend at primary school who was a big Metallica fan (around the age of 10). But what really got me into metal was a dude at highschool doing a presentation about a metalband.

So I told them: yeah, it's pretty common in The Netherlands too, but that doesn't make it a Dutch name.. :roll:

A neighbor who liked hard rock/metal. He worked nights & would hang out with the neighborhood kids during the day in the summer. He would try to steer us to listening to the bands that he liked. I eventually started moving toward listening to heavier music.

It was pretty good. I'll try to describe it, but it will pale to the actual sight of it. If I remember correctly, it went from a WTF expression to a slight smile to a hearty laugh. He then read it out loud for the couple of us there. He thought it was great & was planning on keeping the card. :lol:

No kidding. I do the same thing as well, also do sporting events at the stadium here. Not nearly as fun as it sounds. Just last weekend at the Wellington Sevens, I was trying to keep the isles clear, and some faggot grabbed me and tried to kiss me, I was so pissed. He apologized claiming he thought I was trying to hit on him, seriously, wtf? :evil:

Stupid cunt, I was so tempted to throw him down the steps, but would have lost my job, so I had to deal with the situation in a "professional" manner. Ugh!

What first got you into metal?
I slowly progressed getting into metal through the course of my life, when I was a kid my dad did a "School of Rock" type thing with me. He would burn cds to play for me and would quiz me on songs, bands and albums whenever he could for Classic Rock. When I was 12-15 I started to look for heavier: grunge, punk and heavy metal and found my home with metal because you could consistently keep finding heavier and heavier things for it, very addicting and empowering. My very first metal show was Arch Enemy but what I think sealed the deal for "fan for life" was the first time I saw Amon Amarth play.

Play any instruments?
I used to play guitar, was terrible even though I took lessons for two years. I occasionally play my drums, was doing lessons for them but not enough time right now :cry:

My sister offered me the single of Kiss 'I Was Made For Lovin' You' in 1979, for my birthday. Then I continued to buy the Kiss' albums and some other hard rock/metal bands. I had a 'break' between 1997 and 2008 where I had an invite on my Myspace page from Axel Ritt of Domain and Grave Digger. Then followed a lot of bands, mostly thanks of my radio show since July 2010 :headbanger:
