Hellfest have announced the first bands that will perform at the 2012 festival in Clisson on 15th to 17th June 2012.

It's an impressive line-up with Trivium, Lamb Of God, Children Of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Blue Oyster Cult and Hatebreed.

Only band I care about so far is Unexpect. I'd probably watch Blue Oyster Cult and Lamb of God. Not impressed so far, this festival had an amazing lineup last year, I think this is a big step down.

You're not impressed may be just because you are living in north America and you use to see bands touring your country

For french metal heads, it is amazing lineup so far !

Could be true. I also just don't like any of those bands except the 3 I mentioned. I could see Blue Oyster Cult and Lamb Of God being a big deal for you though. Enjoy the fest!

the only band on that list I'd watch is playing onbroad 70k tons... well, I'd probably check out the B.O.C. set, but I'd only care about a handful of really old songs

BoC and Arcturus for me. I dont particularly like either band but I definitely wouldnt skip a set if the opportunity came up.

Those are the bands i care about. seen most of them before but i cannot see myself going to europe. what with the week long cruise and then maryland deathfest. :)

But yes, compared to past lineups, this one is fairly weak so far. Although I won't be going, so this makes me feel better. :mrgreen:

It's bad enough that it's in France.
But haveing to endure a lineup as horrific as that? :lol:

Honestly that is one of the worst lineups i've ever seen for a metal festival.

BLACK SABBATH will be one the 3 Headliner (just have a look at the countdown on the festival's website).

AMON AMARTH has just confirmed (after their last performance in France) they will be part of Hellfest.

agreed - last year's lineup made me drool, this year's does NOT! just not bands i care a lot about compared to last year.

Even Party San lineup isn't UBER awesome this year. I didn't have any plans for Europe this year regardless, so I guess I can be thankfully that none of them are blowing me away and making me feel guilty.

yeah i hope the next year lineups are much better because that's when i wanna go to one of the bigger eurofests. House of Metal in Umea is a pretty small deal, 2000 peeps or so!

Hellfest lineup is pretty good for me - would LOVE to see Gotthard again. No-one could ever truly "replace" Steve, but the new guy has a good set of pipes.

And Within Temptation on the second day *says no more* :)

Masters of Rock would be the European festival of choice for me this year. I would gladly check out every one of these: WITHIN TEMPTATION (NL), EDGUY (Ger), SABATON (Swe), KAMELOT (USA), ARCH ENEMY (Swe), KORPIKLAANI (Fin), STRATOVARIUS (Fin), DEATHSTARS (Swe), PAIN (Swe), UNISONIC (Ger), GOTTHARD (Swi), TIAMAT (Swe), FREEDOM CALL (Ger), FIREWIND (Gre), SKYFORGER (LV), BLOODBOUND (Swe), BLACK MAJESTY (Australia)

I really really like how they appear to give all bands at least 45 minutes each.

I mean, on paper this year's Soundwave lineup looks amazing, but then you look at the timetable.

Holy Grail 30 minutes at 11am(!) directly clashing with Turisas (WHO EXPECTS A DIRECT CLASH AT A FESTIVAL AT 11AM FFS!), Cathedral 40 minutes, Devin 40 mins (and clashing with Watain), ITM 30 minutes, Kvelertak 30 minutes, 40 minutes for Steel Panther at 12.40pm. Ridiculous!
