My Dying Bride - The Barghest O'Whitby

Postby Whiskeyjack » Sat Feb 04, 2012 10:08 pm

Before the cruise, I was hoping to buy this on it.

No dice.

After the cruise, I checked for it in 7 - seven! - shops in Toronto.

No dice.

Back in Korea, checked MDB's webpage, which forwarded me to Peaceville's page.

No dice.

WHAT THE HELL, PEOPLE. GIVE ME THAT DAMN CD. It only came out last year, it shouldn't be that hard to get. To eBay, I guess.

(I might order it to Canada on vinyl, since that's in stock at Peaceville. Wish I had a record player here. Bah.)

I normally order everything directly thru Peacevill and never had any issues.

This one I actually ordered thru Amazon, and didn't have any issues. And if Amazon.com doesn't have things, I just use Amazon UK, they never charge me a VAT and prices are not unreasonable considering they are shipping overseas. If anything, any of the European special editions I get from them as opposed to regualr Amazon, as it's cheaper.

Go figure

You know, I never even thought about checking prices on Amazon UK. I'll have to look into that.

I ordered like 4 special editions thru the UK site and even with shipping it was cheaper than the US site

Peaceville is awesome.
One of my orders, I ordered a certain Darkthrone album, and they sent me the wrong one (coincidentally, one that I was planning on buying later). So they sent me the correct one at no additional cost.

Also, at some point in history, I ordered some My Dying Bride albums, and the copy of 34.788%... Complete actually had two discs within.

What was on the second disc?

I order mostly from ebay. Sometimes from Amazon. Either UK or US it doesn't really matter to me, just whatever is available or cheapest. Amazon is usually ok but one time I ordered the clam shell edition of My Dying Bride's "Songs of Darkness, Words of Light", and they just sent me the regular edition. So I applied for an exchange, explaining that I ordered the clam shell edition. So whatever moron that took my order sent me back the same fucking CD they sent me in the first place. So I sent it back again and applied for a refund instead. I never got my clam shell box :-(

Oh, it was just a second copy of the album, nothing different at all.

That's pretty lame about that order Conrad. Gotta love shitty customer service.

That's pretty strange. I haven't had anything unusual like that. On a couple of occasions my brother has ordered some DVD sets that have had missing discs, though, but I haven't had any problems.

Yeah and the customer service team at Amazon are fucking dipshits. The page I clicked "add to cart" was clearly for the clam shell edition, and not the regular edition, because they had both listed. I even sent the reference number for the order i was supposed to get when I sent the CD back to them, so they could send me the correct one, but they still fucked it up.

Makes me think about a time I preordered an album through somewhere that I normally don't shop... I get an email shortly after the release date saying to call them as there's been a complicated problem with the order. So I call, and they merely said that the item was on backorder. I immediately told them to cancel the order. I'm sorry, but you don't put an item up for preorder, and then tell me it's backordered. Also, that is not a complicated situation at all, one could've informed me of such in the initial email...
