I was hoping to get here late enough to miss lctr, but there was no traffic... I don't recognize any of those kids without their mushroomhead and slipknot jumpsuits

hm, the lineup for Boonstock is being announced today, I may wind up going to that. It's a little festival (not metal) north of Edmonton that usually draws a few thousand people. The year I went they had Matthew Good and The Offspring as headliners, and it was a drunken good time. Depends greatly on the lineup though, with a fest like that I can never be sure.

Finally made it to my first post-cruise show last night.
Promising USBM band Mutilation Rites and three good locals.

Tonight Goatwhore is playing for free at a record store a few miles from the house. Should be crazy fun.
Friday is Deicide, Jungle Rot, Abigail Williams and Lecherous Nocturne.

It feels good to have a string of shows to go to again. Woo hoo!

Last night we went to see Swallow the Sun's last gig of the Finnish tour at Nosturi in Helsinki. The support acts were Iconcrash (was actually quite good, kinda had a Depeche Mode feel to it) and The Man-eating Tree (boring).
StS was great and they played a two-hour set! Lots of old stuff.

Hey Kay! How was PoS? DId they play mostly stuff from the 2 recent Road Salt albums? Still need/want to see them one day! A Chicago friend of mine recently told me he saw them at ProgPower USA back in 2002. Apparently, they were also at PP USA In 2004....those may have been the few (only?) times they've been to the states. Ah, well...hope to see them someday.

Next up for me is Paganfest USA three weeks from tonight kicking off a great month of gigs for me.

Pain of Salvation was great, I've seen them twice on this tour. Quite some newer work, but also some songs from the first couple of records. A lot of the same songs as on the tours with Opeth and Apocalyptica, but quite different from their last headliner tour. There are some songs from Be that I'd really like to hear live, but unfortunately they didn't play those.
Well yeah I hope for you that they'll make their way to the States, or otherwise you'll need to come to Europe to see them.

Ok, Graham Bonnet was a bit disappointing. He does give his all on stage, but the voice isn't what it used to be anymore. A fun night nonetheless, good friends, beer and bananas (well, not bananas to be honest).
