I'm thinking of going to see "The Grey" when it comes out on the 27th. I figure I'm gonna have to wait a while before I check into my hotel, so I might as well go see a movie when we unbroad. :D That movie looks pretty awesome. :beerhorns:

Well the only difference from having a night like the Hangover movies is ( unless you get off the ship on Wednesday and go to a tattoo shop) is that you won't have a tattoo on your face if you stay on the boat. But there can always be unexplained things like the mystery panties (or other belongings) predicament .

A friend of mine just took me to see Melancholia. I was probably the only person in the theater who felt this way (the audience was all film school students) but I couldn't stand it. It went sooooo slowly with nothing of significance happening. Apparently, that's the point since the trivialities of life was one of the things the producer was trying to convey, but did he/she really need 2 hours to do that? None of the characters were likable and I couldn't bring myself to care about any of them, and there was really no reason to watch this unless you wanted to discuss the symbolism and meaning behind it afterwards (or if you wanted to see Kirsten Dunst lying naked in the moon/planet light, but that was 10 minutes in a 2 hour movie).

Yeah. I'm not even really into bare breasts in movies and I still found it pretty hot. In a movie like that, you've got to take what you can get, unless you're an art major who's content to watch films just to interpret their inner meanings. I was actually the only person in the room who hated it (unless peer pressure kept the others from speaking up during the post-movie discussion).

Next up in the movie theaters in Finland: War of the Dead - Stone's War. (LINK)
Iron Sky had space nazis, War of the Dead has zombie nazis. :D

Iron Sky has now been #1 in the theaters for three weeks. Somehow I don't think War of the Dead will get as many viewers.

I think there are quite a few movies featuring nazi zombies. What makes War of the Dead more appealing to me is the fact that the story is about the WW2, so it's not just "what could be more evil than zombies, hey, let's make them nazi zombies". Plus it's dealing with the Finland vs. Russia battles make sit indefinitely more interesting.

Just saw a Movie Bob review of the final Twilight movie on The Escapist. Contrary to everyone's expectations, he actually recommended it, but you should definitely see how he does it.

He makes an interesting (and very amusing) point.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2: The most unintentionally hilarious movie of 2012.

Can't link to that for some reason. (???)

Anyway, funny you mentioned Breaking Dawn - Part 2, because a friend of mine and I took our daughters plus 2 other girls to see it yesterday...and it rocked - great finale to the series!!!* (The five girls range in age from 13-15.) And to put us seeing the finale in perspective, we (my girls and I) have seen them all in the theater (plus we own them all) since the first one came out four years ago. Believe me, I know people just love to diss these movies, but we love 'em.....great fantasy, great fun!! :P For the people who may think they'd rather get a tooth pulled or something equally unpleasant  than watch a Twilight movie, I could definitely say that about playing *any* videogame or watching football, basketball, baseball, or hockey...in fact, probably one of my absolute worst, nightmarish visions of pure unadullterated, tortuous HELL is being forced to do both alone in a single room for all of eternity. :beerwink:  Different strokes for different folks.

* we're also big fans of the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and now the new Hunger Games movie series. (and own them all as well, so have seen them several times).) Any one else here see the Hunger Games? Fantastic!! Again, great fantasy, great fun. And since our girls are now both black belts in MMA (mixed martial arts) they especially LOVE the bad-assery of Katniss Everdeen.

My favorite movie of all time is Braveheart, but it's an R movie and think they could wait another year or two until they see that. Same with Gladiator, another big favorite of mine....pretty violent (think that's an R too), but I think when they're older, they'll like that as well (especially because of the historical setting because they're into history as I am.)
