I think THAT would be my "sure booking" band, didn't mention it on the thread because they were on last 70K.

I will only allow them in if they don't plan any GRIN material and 1 set is all NO MORE COLOR.

And 2nd setlist almost all Mental Vortex (leaving "I want You" out), do we have a deal?

If 70000 Tons just barely sold out. How many tickets will Barge To Hell sell? 500? 800?

The bands aren't as expensive, so maybe that will be enough to survive?

i've thought about this too. if one cruise barely sells out, how can there be enough people to fill two ships? The break-even point must be MUCH less than full capacity onbroad!

and they should space the cruises more than one month too, because people WILL want to go to both.

70000 tons barely sold out the expensive cabins. The first 4 decks or even more were sold in a matter of hours. That, and they've been promoting this since August. I don't think they'll have an issue.

If 70000 Tons don't depart in either January or February, I would probably not go. One huge reason for this trip is coming from cold temperatures and snow to Florida.

On the other hand, it snowed here 3 days ago and it's still below 0 C (32 F) in the mornings, so I guess I could make this trip in March too.

But do you really think there are as many people interested in extreme metal, as there are in all metal genres altogether?

i seem to think that the people who like the most extreme metal, in GENERAL have the least amount of $$ for cruises!!!!!!!!

Barge is still fairly well-rounded, what with Moonspell and Paradise Lost on there...

also, Sweden is still plenty cold in March!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed on all points. Hopefully both cruises sell well. Spacing them out more than a month would certainly help, though if they wait too long for 70K it might start to interfere with European festival season and may make it a tougher draw for Europeans.

And mods, how come you're not posting the announcements in the thread anymore? Here's the official announcement:

The countdown has begun: Pre-Registration for BARGE TO HELL, The World's Most Extreme Metal Cruise, will end tomorrow April 18, 2012 at 11.59PM EST! In other words, you better do your SOILWORK now and Pre-Register here for your chance to book before the general public!

Good point

Back to Soilwork, how big are they nowadays in terms of popularity? Just curious if they'll take up one of the longer set times.

Reasonably 'big' - this is from when their last album came out mid-2010
"The Panic Broadcast", the new album from Swedish metallers SOILWORK, sold around 5,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 88 on The Billboard 200 chart.

SOILWORK's previous CD, "Sworn to a Great Divide", opened with 5,000 units back in October 2007 to land at No. 148.

"The Panic Broadcast" has registered the following first-week chart positions:

Finland: #17
Germany: #24 (week 1), #80 (week 2)
Sweden: #37 (week 1), #29 (week 1)
U.K.: #42
Austria: #47
Switzerland: #60
Europe (Billboard): #67
USA: #88

Also, on the announced lineup so far, they are second only to Sepultura in last.fm listeners:

Sepultura
(689,874 listeners)

Soilwork
(389,309 listeners)

Paradise Lost
(297,378 listeners)

Moonspell
(272,361 listeners)

Hypocrisy
(194,797 listeners)

Sodom
(185,102 listeners)

...

Loudblast
(3,527 listeners)

I'd like to see Kampfar, but it's not one of my favourite bands, so as it is now, I'm still totally ok with not going to BTH :beerwink:
Please keep booking bands that I don't care so much about  Thanks!

Same. Need to justify missing this boat. Sanctuary are still the only band of interest to me so far.

This is one of those mooyagi black metal bands, figured he be all wet-n-giggly over this.

Just from a quick listen of a few songs, sounds okay, will probably give them some repeated listens to see if I get into them more.

Let's hope they give us yet another announcement once registration closes, then another one once they send out the emails.

But so far I like how they have been dolling out the bands

Kampfar is a good add - saw them at Wacken in 2009 - enjoyed them ...had bought the album Kvass beforehand, but have never listened to it much for some reason. (not like a lot of other black metal bands that I tend to glom on to right away and want to buy lots of their music asap.) Now that they are a Barge band....I'll revisit Kvass and check out some other albums. And I gotta add this side-bar... for those of us who might care about *coughs* such things  .... lead singer Dolk is super duper hot. :P (I know he's been on the ladies thread at least a few times :P )

Just from a quick listen of a few songs, sounds okay, will probably give them some repeated listens to see if I get into them more.

Let's hope they give us yet another announcement once registration closes, then another one once they send out the emails.

But so far I like how they have been dolling out the bands

You bet your fucking ass it makes me all wet and giggly! Kampfar is one of my wishlist bands. Thank you Andy!!!! This was awesome to wake up to. Now I'm in an awesome mood for the day.

I highly recommend you get Mellom Skogkledde Aaser. In my opinion, it's far and away their best album.

You are correct! I was at Wacken in 2009 and 2010 and got the years mixed up - haha - I knew I'd seen them because I posted at least one picture I took on this 70K forum from the gig.
And for memory lane's sake - here's a few pix of Mr. Hot (Dolk) on the ladies thread (man - I've gotten a lot of enjoyment from that thread)

They are excellent live. I saw them on their most recent US tour with Vreid and they were the best band of the night by far. Just an incredible show in a little shithole bar.

Yeah because Per his wife had her due date and gave birth to their twins that day.

The band said they would play if the twins weren't born yet, but they were... :P

Ah. Didn't know that. Guess that's a fair enough reason to miss.
