They are my nr. 1 band when it comes to music, but also they are awesome and very nice in person.


Oh and I have to correct myself: 2007 and 2010.

I've never heard of Kampfar in my entire life and they'll be getting 40 minutes on the small stage both sets so I generally could care less. Good for their fans though.

While Soilwork fucking eats cock these days, I still LOVE their first four albums. As long as they play something off Steelbath, Chainheart, Predator's, and Natural Born Chaos, I'll be happy as shit. Natural Born Chaos is a landmark release. Nobody ever did anything like that before and it's far more interesting than their copy / paste At the Gates days.

GREAT ADD. Let's get swedes At The Gates and Dark Tranquillity on next. Make it fucking happen.

I highly recommend Kampfar, if you feel like giving them a chance. One of the best black metal bands out there, in my opinion. At the Gates and Dark Tranquillity would be great! Would love to see DT on the ship again.

I dont' like black metal. I don't even like black metal that black metal fans dont' like or consider to be black metal in Cradle/Dimmu. The closest I can handle is newer Nachtmystium. Do they sound like that?

I also hate power metal in the vein of manowar, hammerfall, stratovarius. I like Blind Guardian for some reason :)

I'm open and generally like everything else. Including alot of the more mainstream american bands like Mastodon/Shadows Fall/Lamb of God.

Besides, with the announced bands, it already looks like a mainstream-ish douchefest of epic proportions. You know there will be tons of security and people running interference between fan/band and will probably be a mess like Monsters of Rock.

Hopefully it keeps Machine Head off Barge! That new cruise definitely sounds like something I wouldn't want, given the lineup that Rockstar Mayhem has put together for its festival tour, I'd expect similar acts. Just not my thing.

Supposedly, but I don't hold too much salt in rumors like that. I don't like LoG in any way/shape or form, so glad they won't be on Barge.

I don't think it's elitist to say, just accurate, that the 70K/Barge fanbase is much more hardcore/underground/old school when it comes to music/knowledge/etc. Bands on Rocktar (primarily, not all) don't fit OUR theme

Slayer, Anthrax, Mastodon, Alice in Chains (if you call them metal), Maiden.

And HATE is a strong word, most I don't like or give two shits about. Pantera and Blackguard I despise. Blackguard not as much since they are smaller than a pimple on the ass of the scene, so they don't even deserve much hate.

Saw Samael 1X and it was pretty packed. Can't say I really payed attention all that much to how much were at MDB as I was in "the zone" and blocked out most of what was around me. But like most things in life, popularity means ZERO when it comes to quality.

I was there, it was 4am in the Theater and it wasn't packed, but there were a lot of people there, especially for it being 4am.

I'm not really adverse to varied styles of stuff. I just can't mentally (at least at this point) get all jazzed up about bands not on my radar, until I get a wishlist or two added. Then I become happy and much more open minded.

Granted once they stop announcing bands and I know the lineup (good, bad, indifferent), then I look at things for what they are. But until then, "gimme my wishlist"

At this point they might even tell more. but yeat the midnight band is almost a guarantee at this point.

Btw, you and mooya must be thinking of someone else re: going apeshit over Solstafir. I did bring them up just once here nearly 2 years ago when I saw they were on the WOA 2010 line-up and wondered if anyone knew of them and so on. What little I youtubed at the time I think I liked - but really don't remember much - need to check out again. I didn't end up seeing them at WOA - I think they played opposite Tyr and that was like a total no brainer decision.

Anyway...haven't listened to them yet today but they've got 2 things going for them from the get-go in my book - they're from Iceland (must be ), plus people seem to be tossing around the word psychedelic to describe them, plus Scott on fb even referenced Pink Floyd! Woah! Sounds promising...again - I don't remember the few youtubes I watched a few years ago. I'm dead tired at the moment though - gonna wait till the morning when I'm well-rested to listen to the links here and from fb.
