Condolences on the last part  Oh my goodness though that sounds amazing!!

Gnoff had it right. Everyday. Well, every night. (Days are for sleeping off the booze and Amon Amarth goodness headbanging sores and hangovers).

Saw Russian Circles and Deafheaven on Saturday at Virgin Oil. Both were ok, especially RC. Had never heard of either band before, but am glad I went (getting in for free helped a lot). The crowd was strange as it was some hipster douches mostly - honestly, there was no-one I've ever seen before and that is impossible at any metal gig in Helsinki.
After RC I went to Club PRKL and saw Psychopunch. Not my thing that, so concentrated on getting drunk - with great success. :stagger:

Have a great time!

My last gig: Behemoth, The Devil's Blood, and In Solitude on last Friday, the 13th. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!
(which I already talked about here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2129&start=40 and here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2502&start=200 )
and a pic with 70K f(r)iends Bentz! ( ), Meredith, and Nikki - we were remembering that we were all at Bottom Lounge together almost a year ago to the day (April 14, 2011) for the opening leg of the big Amon Amarth tour.
Image

Next gig (and for something completely different! :P ) - one of my very favorite non-metal bands ever: Death Cab for Cutie, tomorrow night (!!!!) at the beautiful Chicago Theatre. I've never seen them - can't wait! Really hope they do this song....
I Will Possess Your Heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq-yP7mb8UE&ob=av2e (and I absolutely love this video which is largely of a young woman wandering about the world alone ;) )
Ben Gibbard is one of my favorite lyricists ever as well - from this song:

How I wish you could see the potential,
the potential of you and me.
It's like a book elegantly bound but,
in a language that you can't read.
Just yet.

Hmm, apparently it's snowing in Central Finland this week and I already have my summer tires on, so I'm not driving up there for the weekend.
Club PRKL has "Kuritushuone V" (an event where mostly Finnish smaller bands get to play) on Friday. They have Mors Subita (death metal), DelayHead (sort of thrash) and 0xist (dark metal?) on the bill with tickets at six euros. Nothing better atm for the weekend, so might just go see those.

That's Witchburn, a local Seattle band that kicks ass! I know them. So bummed the tour is not coming here.

Two bands seeing for the first time....
Last gig: last night at the Chicago Theater

:P
so many wonderful songs, but I especially loved this one called Grapevine Fires http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4ajaBpmCEk it's only a matter of time, before we all burn...

Next gig: April 29 at the Ultra Lounge....

Primal Om: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6vdbSU7 ... re=related

Not counting January and December 2012 (because of 70K & Barge), I think April 2012 will prove to be my favorite gig month this year with Paganfest, Behemoth, DCFC, & Negura Bunget (plus Rammstein just a few days into May)

and the show last night was great! Behemoth had the best live sound i've seen (seen them probably 3-4 times now). Super tight, great performance. The whole show was pretty killer, i didn't love every band but i loved how each band offered up something pretty unique to contribute to a good overall show.

i'm SUPER tired and dragging ass at work today....gnaarrgh!

fun times though. had some thai noodles and veggies with nick first then rocked out at the show with a PBR tall boy as i would imagine Laura probably did! only had one given it was a work night though :beerwink:

Not much going on at the moment. We were supposed to go see Entombed the 11th of May, but we'll have guests from the other nordic countries for Fredrik's farewell party at work and I can't imagine they would like to go

So probably nothing before May, 25 when we'll see Ensiferum in Salo, Finland. Really looking forward to that one, as we haven't seen them since june last year

Could've gone with you guys to Salo, but it's on the same day as Before the Dawn in Club PRKL and I already promised Markku I'd go there. Not that either of the bands actually interest me. :D

That's a shame :( And I didn't know that Before the Dawn will play the same day, I would have liked to see them in a small club. Is there any other concerts while we are there? I've been checking the program for Nosturi and Tavastia regularly but I haven't seen anything interesting.

Imperiumi lists metal gigs in Finland. Most venues report their gigs there, and I think it's the best site to look for metal gigs in Finland. :)

Nothing good while you're in Finland I'm afraid. There's Ghost Brigade in Jyväskylä (40 km from Äänekoski) on 19th; I'm not that fond of them, but would go if you're interested.
Just noticed that Lunar Path is opening for BtD. Yay! :D

Nice, thanks! We are gonna miss Hevisaurus but I wouldn't want to see them at 3pm with lots of kids anyway

I don't know Ghost Brigade at all, so I wouldn't travel for them  We can have our B&B apeshit party at home :beerwink:

We won't stay in Salo though, we'll go back to Helsinki right after the show as there are buses all night. And the 26th I think we'll go to PRKL and party with all our crazy finnish friends! But thanks for the info :)

Jaimie you should come to Calgary next weekend! Joey, Chris and I are going to Opeth, Ghost and Mastodon on Friday and then hitting up a local metal show at the Distillery on Saturday after beer festival. Coooome. Drink with us! (I won't pressure you into tequila shots I promise!)
