Roadtrip of steel!

Me and my friends are goin' on a USA/Canada road trip this summer. I'd be glad if you can suggest cool places to see/visit near the planned route. What kind of stuff do we plan to see? Everything - museums, nature, maybe see a concert or 2 (probably Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper in NY or Washington), we'll try to find some good local breweries and drink all they can offer, ... so pretty much all suggestions are welcome.

The trip timeframe is Jun 24th - Jul 20th, the trip starts in NY and heads southwest, as you can see from the numbers :)
If anyone here lives nearby, we can meet for a beer or 2

Visit the Hopewell rocks while you're in New Brunswick and visit Niagra Falls while you are in the Toronto area because the Canadian side is better. Thats it for my meager suggestions for now.

Sounds like a great trip! For local breweries, when you pass through Portsmouth, New Hampshire take a visit to the Portsmouth Brewery and Smuttynose Brewing Company. Here is a list of breweries in Portsmouth: http://www.portsmouthnh.com/thingstodo/index.cfm?CategoryID=5

New Hampshire has just about everything, and it's a very small state so you wouldn't have to travel too far off the path if you wanted to go to a lake, mountains, hiking, etc.

In Boston, there are many options but I suggest the Samuel Adams Brewery, Harpoon Brewery and Boston Beer Works. Here are some other breweries in Massachusetts: http://www.boston.com/business/gallery/craftbrewers/?. I also suggest you visit Fenway Park and see a Red Sox game. There are plenty of other touristy things to do in the city as well, historical tours, museums, etc. Just don't drive in the city.

I highly doubt I will be, but if I'm in the area around the time you pass through I'd be more than happy to meet up in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Maine.

well, when you're in the South Western Park of Pennsylvania, I recommend checking out Ohiopyle State Park (it appears you'll go nearby anyway)... in that area is Frank Lloyd Wright's famous building called Falling Water... if you like architecture, it is the most incredible home I've EVER seen... another home he designed called Kentuck Knob is also nearby.
for eating near Pittsburgh I wholeheartedly recommend Burgatory (look it up and start drooling).
Most Pittsburghers LIVE to drink... so you'll have no problem finding a bar to party at while there.

in Maine, Sebego Lake is a GREAT place to go swimming, and if you like seafood... it is everywhere, it is good, and it is cheap.
Portland's pretty much the only "hoppin'" city... though you could detour through Lewiston for a drug fueled alcoholic town (worth avoiding).
Near Bangor, on the turnpike is a truck stop called Dysarts... damned good food

and don't forget to try Moxie while you're there... yummm!!!

Um...so it's super complicated and the best I can do is to just visit Edmonton and plan to move to Seattle at the end of the summer. I really can't legally move to Canada without a job offer, and I'm not going to do anything even SLIGHTLY bending the rules because it could ruin any chances I have of going to school there, and potentially ruin any chances of doing a lot of the things I want to do with my academic and professional careers.

I don't know what happens if I get a job while I'm visiting. I asked the visa/immigration office what to do in that instance and this was their response:
"If you attempt to enter Canada with the intent to work and you have not already received a work permit, you will be denied entry."
So....fuck it. I'm not looking for work anymore. Legally all I can do is go visit, and thats it. So that's all I plan to do at this point.
