I'm still amazed LA are potentially getting into the cup final with only dropping a single game.

They're playing extremely well right now. Wonder where that was all season long.

Uncle Soda wrote:Looking grim right now, bro. With the current standings Sweden and Finland can't meet before the final. If Sweden makes it there they will have to beat The Czechs in the quarterfinal, and probably Canada in the semi-final. And between the USA and Canada games Finland conceeded 9 (!!) straight goals, so I don't see them going all the way.

Oh, well, leaves more time for drinking, yeah :) :shred:

Never would've thought that Canada, Sweden and USA are out at this stage.
I guess it didn't help you that seemed like everyone in the sports bar was rooting for the Czechs. :beerwink:

Don't worry, I managed to totally flop it on Rangers - Devils game where I got a complete shut out. And last night tams couldn't muster 3 more shots. To think I spent the most time contemplating about Quick's shutout question :P

Keep up the upset possibilities Coyotes!!!

When are the idiots at NHL.com gonna fix question #1 from yesterday? I put yes to Phoenix getting 4 or more pp opportunities and it still has me marked as wrong. Wouldn't get me a HT but every point counts!

Considering that NHL.com had it set to be 1-0 Kings for a large chunk of the first period yesterday, don't count on it

Hindsight can be a bitch!

As I was drafting an e-mail to send to the folks who manage the game's site, I realized that 2 of L.A.'s penalties that night were coincidental with Phoenix penalties so the Coyotes never did actually get 4 pp opps  hehe

Go Phoenix GO!!!

Good effort by Phoenix. LA was just a bit better. Good season for Phoenix. Hopefully they get their ownership situation settled in the offseason.

There's quite a fever over here as well. People have been getting up at 3 or 4am to watch the Kings throughout the play offs and cheer for Kopitar. It would be awesome if Kings win because then the Stanley Cup would fly over here for a display.

Same here on both counts. I was just imagining the Slovenian bar/home tv hockey viewing scene when he snagged that pass and broke in. Fun times for sure!

The village where Kopitar is from counts 2000 people and about 200 watched the game live on big screen outside. Around half of them didn't see OT since it was already 6am and most of them had to go to work. More people are expected for Saturday's match. Doubt there will be any for LA games since those will start at 5am local time :?

It is funny though how a single man can bring life long rivals together. We have two rival hockey teams here and fans from capital city announced they are visiting on Saturday to watch the game live together with their hockey arch nemesis from a town that's like half a mile away from Kopitar's village. A crowd of around 1000 at least is expected.

If he wants to be with his family, then fine. Retire or negotiate a release with the Bruins, but don't just decide to take a year off on the last year of your contract while leaving the team liable for your salary and a $5 million cap hit.

Hopefully the Bruins can find a trading partner that is close to the salary floor and wants to take on his cap hit to get them above the number, then hope he actually returns after a year off. Then they can either let the contract expire and he comes back a free agent or suspend him for the season so that team holds his rights for one year when he comes back. Of course, I don't expect him to return. If he's just suffering from a burnout or has some family issue, fine. If that's the case and he's expected back, maybe someone can do the suspension option but his career as a Bruin is over.

I was reading some comments around the net about Thomas and a lot of them said the break is because of his political beliefs / involvement. What's that all about?
