My rejoice for the day is that the family & I had a great weekend away from the "big city" at a friend's cabin on a lake in Wisconsin. And next....daughter Veronica Joy begins high school on Wednesday! It's such a cliché to say this, but where did the time go???? :shock:

Same here. End of August was the earliest. Of course, one year we got belted with snow and were in school until late June, which kinda sucked. Some places in Arizona have already started. Glendale apparently started on August 8th :shock:

Re high school start dates, Veronica is going to a private school & the schedule is quite different than CPS (Chicago Public Schools) - they start mid-August and end the last week of May. CPS starts Tuesday after Labor Day & ends mid-June. I think my high school in the Chicago northwest suburbs began last week of August & ended first week of June. (haha - if I remember correctly - that was a helluva long time ago! :beerwink:

) Since we still have a child in the CPS, luckily both kids have the same Christmas & Spring breaks off.

But man oh man.... high school....

I actually have really great memories of HS - especially junior & senior year - had a great group of friends who I hung out with *all* the time. :cool:

Plus, it was such a great time for music and concert going. :smoking:

I'm really happy I grew up at that particular time. Not that things are "worse" or "better" now - just really different in a lot of ways, I think.

It's kind of a funny name when you think about it....

Well, and if you went to my high school back then, you'd get what I'm talking about 110%! Which begs the question, how did I manage to get nearly straight A's in high school???? Tis mystifying to me at times.

My random rejoice for the day is that I've found being on facebook (including the various 70K & Barge groups) highly entertaining yesterday and today - I think I posted more there in the past 24 hours than the last two months combined. Lots going on and good to reconnect with certain people there (many who are not on here at all). So - think I'll be spending more time there from now on...and if I'm not here much or at all anymore, it's not like I died or anything. (at least I hope not!) :lol:

woot roommates are going away for a week and i have a 3 day weekend while they are gone :beerbang:

so now my weekend starts with Kataklysm then ends with video games on a 55" tv for many many days :deathhorns:

Got offered the job I interviewed for on Wednesday. Slightly more money, will get given a new laptop and mobile phone, will be able to work from home a couple of days a week, and it doesn't involve being on-call.
