I haven't talked about either of these bands much on these forums - but I'm a big fan of Samael and Eisbrecher - the fact that the lead singers just happen to be uber cool looking (imo) is like a major bonus to their great music!

For me personally, I'm not into posting random good-looking guys here - they have to have some epic talent as well

Here's a true story.....several years ago I bought Be (CD/DVD) by Pain of Salvation cold - didn't know them at all - bought it because someone I met was raving about it much - so, I thought, oh what the hell, I'll buy it. I listened to it several times (and fell in love with it immediately btw) before I watched the DVD. I'll never forget coming home late from an office Christmas party, and popping that DVD in the player. Well, in that opening scene when Daniel Gildenlow walks out in that white flowing garb, and starts singing that great opening track, I almost fell over

- and thought good god! :shock:

- so talented AND so good-looking to boot?! (I tell 'ya, some people just have it really good :cool:

Hells yeah lady I love both of those groups too.

Hubby and I were talking last night and we said we would be happy if Samael, Enslaved, and Satyricon were added to the cruise. Not that everyone would agree with us....

I know this will sound terribly genderist of me but on this one I refuse to apologize...

Fact of the matter is, if we applied that same criteria to postings in 'our' thread, we'd have barely made it to page 2 :shock:

well, i think it's all how women look at men. while we can certainly ogle, we are less visual and care more about personality, talent, humor, smarts ON THE WHOLE than the more visual male gender who cares more about looks in general or at least CASUALLY . this is why ugly guys are with hot women a lot - these guys are funny or smart or successful and a woman can often look past the looks part entirely. very rarely do i see a very hot talented guy with a frumpy not so hot woman even if she has a great personality.

anyway whatever works...these are all of course major generalizations, all of which could be proven wrong and no time should be wasted on it.

The genders are MOST definitely hard-wired quite differently in regards to such matters. I think it has a lot to do with the variation in biological imperatives. On those deepest levels, we men just wanna procreate as frequently and successfully as possible whereas women are driven more by what will be in the best interest of themselves and the offspring over the longer term. Not to say that we don't both also share some of those traits across gender lines but yeah, 'slightly' different underlying priorities to say the least

Rhia….I like your response a lot – I feel very much the same way on several of your points. Actually, I have thought about some of these gender-related issues quite a bit over the years – very interesting! One of the reasons I hesitated from posting on this thread in the first place (and particularly musicians) was that I didn’t want to be perceived as some gal who liked this or that band just because there is some “hot guy” in it. :roll:

I agree with this 100% - have read several articles over the years that support that view. Yeah, things have changed somewhat on the surface because of women's greater independence in our "modern world", but it doesn't change 100% overnight those millions of years of evolutionary "hard-wiring" if you will.
