Some of you have some pretty good stuff on there. last_candle's and I seem to have really similar tastes. Let's see if my shuffle reflects that. . .

1. Sonata Arctica - White Pearl, Black Oceans (whoa, good job iPod, this is probably my all-time favorite song)
2. Arch Enemy - Dark of the Sun
3. Avantasia - Serpents In Paradise
4. Battlelore - Ride With The Dragons (I don't think I've ever actually listened to this song; I just have the album, meh)
5. Kamelot - Farewell
6. Elvenking - Midnight Circus (my least favorite song on that brilliant 'Wyrd' album)
7. Thunderstone - Like Father, Like Son
8. Sonata Arctica - My Selene (I mean, I've only got like 95 Sonata Arctica songs on there)
9. Ayreon - Into The Black Hole
10. In Flames - Moonshield

Meh.

Oh, yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz

^^^ glad you liked the post  - Ballroom Blitz is a great song and The Sweet were a fun band to be sure! (and thanks to Lal@ for reminding me of it on this thread!) Love the youtube video of them - so 70's - so GLAM! :P  Bummer though, read somewhere that a couple of those guys are now dead.

I did another shuffle on my iPod that has my whole collection on it (nearly 8,000 songs), as opposed to my iPhone that is almost all metal.
Here goes....
1. Judas Priest: United (British Steel)
2. Septicflesh: When All is None (Sumerian Daemons)
3. Porcupine Tree: The Sky Move Sideways (The Sky Moves Sideways)
4. Chevelle: Interlewd (Sci-Fi Crimes)
5. Nirvana: Stay Away (Nevermind)
6. Counting Crows: Hangin’ Around (This Desert Life)
7. Tristania: Mercyside (Illumination)
8. Hawkwind: Death Trap (Hawkwind Epoch-Eclipse)
9. Stone Roses: Bye Bye Bad Man (The Stone Roses)
10. Turisas: As Torches Rise (Battle Metal)

I've enjoyed reading everyone's list including yours Behn - reminds me of a lot of great songs and bands, as well as making me want to check out some of the bands/songs I don't know.

5. Rage - Vanished In Haze
6. Muse - Supermassive Black Hole

Let's see what the shuffle's got cooked up for a dreary Saturday (I'm going to post links wherever possible so people can discover more music and also random ass comments because I'm bored):

1. Vision Divine - The Perfect Machine (The Perfect Machine): Michele Luppi ftw
2. Moonspell - Once It Was Ours! (Memorial): Memorial is an excellent album for anyone still trying to get into Moonspell
3. 1349 - Slaves to Slaughter (Hellfire): Frost rules
4. Korpiklaani - Happy Little Boozer (Tales along This Road): Crap, now I wanna get wasted
5. Diablo Swing Orchestra - Lucy Fears the Morning Star (Sing Along Songs for the Damned and Delirious): This band is bizarre but fun. Kind of a carnivale/circus/jazz/swing hodgepodge of weirdness
6. Dimmu Borgir - The Insight and the Catharsis (Spiritual Black Dimensions): One of my least favorite Dimmu albums
7. Finntroll - Den Frusna Munnen (Nifelvind): Can't wait to see them!
8. Melechesh - Rebirth of the Nemesis (Enuma Elish Rewritten) (Emissaries): If you are not a Melechesh fan you need to become one now
9. Therion - Children of the Stone: After the Inquisition (Sitra Ahra): I haven't even listened to this CD yet (I just got it).
10. Die Apokalyptischen Reiter - Du Kleiner Wicht (Have a Nice Trip): I'm surprised I've actually found a CD by them in a store in the States.
See you all on 70K 2014! :deathhorns:

Working late and got the shuffle going figured Id take a break and post the first 10 here, never used the shuffle til this thread, thought itd pick mostly the filler / crap songs at the bottom of the albums, its actually a lot better than I thought it would be.

1.Metallica - Stone Cold Crazy
2.Scorpions - Cant Get Enough
3.The WHo - Substitute
4.Joe Cocker - Delta Lady
5.Bad Company - Rhythmn Machine (I like Bad Co. but this song blows)
6.Overkill - Rotten To The Core
7.Slaughter - Strappado (the Canadian Death Metal band Slaughter, not the hair band)
8.Suffocation - Deceit
9.Queensryche - Fear City Slide
10.Venom - Evil Perfection

I just picked up the movie the oldtime Clark Gable / Marilyn Monroe / Montgomery Clift movie The Misfits which Danzig named the band after. Always wanted to see it and found it for $3.99 in a used store so I figured why not.

I was also meaning to watch or get the movie Black Sabbath which they named the band after but then I read Tony Iommi saw the movie name on the marque and thought it was cool sounding and he never actually saw the movie.

I previously had bought the old horror flick White Zombie (which Rob Zombie named his band after) but never got around to watching it. I did watch Santa Clause Conquers The Martians the other day though which I had bought the same day (guess I was in a cheezy movie mood that day, at the same time I also got They Saved Hitlers Brain and Plan 9 From Outer Space).

Tyrwoman...great thread! I'm loving reading everyone's playlists.

Did this for kicks at the gym this morning, so it alleviated some of the feeling of being a hamster on the treadmill. Entertaining, to say the least...my iPod has an enormous variety of stuff besides metal, simply because as a musician I perform in lots of different genres/styles (whatever pays the bills), and I've done a LOT of classical music in the past. That should explain some of this...well, that, and I have wacky playlists for my tattoo clients, depending on their tastes.

1. Peek-a-boo - Siouxsie and the Banshees
2. Haydn, String Quartet in B - Emerson String Quartet
3. 1969 - Sisters of Mercy

Yes! That is one trip I still need to make (Wacken). I feel Tiamat is overlooked. It seems like "Amanethes" came and went but I loved it. So many good songs on it. I feel it captures a lot of their sound summarized in one album and love the song "Circles" esp. the first 3 lines of lyrics. Your ipod playlist still had some gems of band I love. Agalloch, man they are so good. If you haven't snagged their new album yet it is very good. Several listen to "Black Lake Niostang" and you should be hooked. The song is heavy in so many ways outside of just metal. Theater of Tragedy I miss the days of Liv Pre-Industrial although Strom was a good go for vocals by Nel. Velvet Darkness They Fear and Aegis I feel are their best though.

Back to the random listing . . .

Hey soundcurve - like your comments....I actually listened to all four Theatre of Tragedy albums I own last Friday (Aegis, Velvet Darkness They Fear, Musique, and Storm) - a lot of variety in and among those four - I like them all very much, but have to say my favorite is Aegis and especially the opening two tracks Cassandra and Lorelei. As you mentioned - Velvet Darkness They Fear is fantastic too. And the song When He Falleth is so amazing- love that whole spoken word part starting with...."That cross you wear around your neck; is it only a decoration, or are you a true Christian believer?....

I bought the new Agalloch last week as well - I am still absorbing its greatness  - I REALLY need to see this band someday.

I only have 650 songs on my work pc so this list will be rather boring.

Will do it again tonight when I get home where I have 30,000+ songs:

1. EPICA - Dance of Fate
2. KORPIKLAANI - Metsamies
3. SANCTUARY - Ascension to Destiny
4. TESTAMENT - Henchman Ride
5. ENSIFERUM - Hero in a Dream
6. ICED EARTH - Jack
7. EPICA - Adagio
8. ICED EARTH - The Coming Curse
9. AVANTASIA - Dying For An Angel
10. APOCALYPTICA - Not Strong Enough

Its very "70,000 Tons" due to the fact that the bulk of the songs I have at work are from artists on the cruise :p
Gigs: May 23 Eluveitie, June 4 Kamelot, Oct 12 Amorphis, Nov 23 QSO Symphony of Legends

I'm sure our Power Metal and Thrash Metal tastes could overlap on a select few bands, but old school metal is wasted on me.

I have however taken my derby name from Manowar. :D

EDIT: The forum is telling me that it is your birthday. So... HAPPY BIRTHDAY METAL PENGUIN! Many happy returns! :headbanger:
