a couple of years ago i tried compiling lists like this... it ended with word imploding on me:O
local metal venue's almost around the corner are not good for these kind of lists:P
TOM CRUISE wrote::lol: I know huh? Just my 4 trips to Holland (Dynamo 97-98-99, Cradle of Filth/Old Mans Child @ Paradiso and No Mercy's 2002 at O13 in Tilburg) would muster up about 170 bands or more. Not to mention Wacken 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007
Then there is Party San 2002, 2004
Inferno 2002, 2004
Hole in the Sky 2009
Probably seen 500 + bands at all my euro festival jaunts.
Then there is Milwaukee Metalfest 97, 99, 00
March Metal Meltdown 2000
November to Dismember- 2000
Maryland Deathfest 2009, 2010
Another 500 probably with all the US festivals. Oh and Lollapolooza 92, 93, 94, 95, 96
When you have been going to concerts for 32 years, it really adds up
tyrwoman wrote:ok - you win Tom I would bet money that you have seen more bands, been to more festivals, been to more shows than anyone on this forum -
TOM CRUISE wrote:Deb- did you see that I saw Heart in August of 1980 in Phoenix? The song "Mistral Wind" live appears on the "Heart Live" album from 1980..
I saw Aldo Nova in 1992 in Seattle. We met him afterwards and my friend Allison had him sign her arm (upper) and then she had me take her up to Seattle Tattoo Emporium and she had it tattooed into her skin.
Yeah, we had been drinking Jager in 95 degree weather and thought it was a good idea.
She covered it up within a year
TOM CRUISE wrote:Thanks but I doubt that. Metalwrath lives in Europe and has been to quite a few festivals but he is only 26 so he might not have been to as many as I have.

of course it doesnt even begin to measure up like Rob, TYR, and Scotts lists here...but neverthless....MANY good shows.....My list however would have been fulfilled for me if I ever had the chance to see LED ZEPPLIN!! Other than that....I have been blessed to see ALL!
tyrwoman wrote:LOVE UFO!!! - saw them in the late 70's with Peter Frampton , Rick Derringer, and Bob Seger, and also last fall. Never heard of Aldo Nova - need to look them up. I agree about Led Zep - I did see Robert Plant on a solo tour in the early 80's though and he was awesome!!
TOM CRUISE wrote:Actually Aldo Nova's album after that one got MTV airplay quite a bit

I have seen every band imaginable live except for The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.

Ditto! I know that I saw over 70 just in one year that I actually counted and I have been going to shows for 40 years. I started going with my mom at age 10.
Goddess of Metal wrote:Yes to these...
August 1978. REO Speedwagon. Alpine Valley, WI
Summer 1978. Rolling Stones. Soldier Field.
December 1978. UFO. Randhurst Ice Arena
June 1979. Yes. Chicago International Ampitheater
I was also at Sly and the Family Stone with my mom at Grant Park when a riot broke out and we had to run for our lives! I was 10 years old! I guess I would say that was my first moshpit.

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!
love the last posts of Goddess of Metal, Evican, and Slaytanic Erik! Too much to comment on and too little time, so I'll leave it at that for now,

Sometimes it sucks being an island continent!

Okay, I know that doesn't really apply here but I thought I'd try....
(how is it that I so often find myself trying to convince women that this expression is true?)

I'm guessing you're in your 20's, right? I think all of the shows you've been to at such a young age is amazing! Absolutely LOVE the fact that you have travelled overseas to see Epica and P!nk! That shows awesome dedication and passion - I love that in a person. And seriously, what is life without passion and adventure?
I tell my young daughters this all the time - follow your passions, follow your dreams (whatever they may be), make grand future plans, yet don't forget to love where you're at today.
I jokingly asked on some other thread who would be up for the 25th anniversary 70k tons of metal cruise in 2036. I suspect you'll be there!
Now, off to unplug from the Internet and enjoy a long weekend out of town.

I am, 25 to be exact. I agree! Life would be pretty boring without both and I am lucky that for the time being I am able to do such things.
Oh I would definitely be there! I'd only be 50 years old and would still have some parties left in me! I'd kick it with all the young whipper snappers!
