A geeko sapien? Hopefully not a beerdouchicus, otherwise we'll probably have a very short conversation if we run into each other at Tuska

Well, I see myself as closest to the geeko sapien, you'll have to tell me if it's true

I will :D But probably you'll find it very boring to talk about beer with me, as I usually go for the cheapest one

At first I was gonna joke and say Andy Moog, former NHL goalie.

I'm guessing seriously though that it's gonna be the guy behind Moog synthesizers. I'm sure I've got mental wires crossed here but for some reason my mind is connecting that with Phil Spector (sp?) :?

I don't know anything about a connection with Spector, but yes, Bob Moog, the creator of the Moog synthesizer.

Ive had an interesting brewing experience lately haha. Last week my sake finally finished and I was able to taste it for the first time. I used a red rice yeast to give a fruitier flavor than normal sake. I think it came out pretty damn good too. Its definitely not something I will be doing anytime soon though. The process isnt hard at all, but is just soo time consuming with an extraordinarily high amount of work for a small 2.5 gallon batch. I have a new found respect and appreciation for sake after this one though. I got really tired of stirring the damn thing numerous times of day and steaming rice every day during primary fermentation. Its a cool one time thing, but to hell if im going to spend that much time again for such a small batch.

I did brew up a beer today though :D Trying my hand at a Sweet Chocolate Chipotle Stout. Yes I know im very odd for making a stout to enjoy during the summer. It was also my first time using chili peppers in a beer and my the only beer ive tried with chili peppers. Started with 2 chopped chipotle peppers for the last 10 of the boil. Tried out the wort and its pretty interesting. Havent gotten much of the smokey flavor but at the tail end of the sip you get a nice hint of chili flavor and chili heat. I am going to taste the beer again before racking into the secondary to see if the heat dies down. If it does ill throw two more chopped up chipotles, seeds and all, along with my chocolate nibs. If the heat is still there ill just put the nibs and chopped, seedless and no membrane, in the secondary instead.

Gnoff, you have any brewing experience with chili peppers?

Can work very well in a black beer though, especially if you manage to get some chocolate tones to it as well.
I've done mainly stouts and porters myself for the summer, nothing wrong with black beers and heat if you ask me, can taste very nice.

Yea, ive seen the commercial ones that are marketed as a chili beer and they scare me. They always mention using something like 3-4 different chili peppers, which I cannot imagine tastes good. Im just aiming for a hint of the smokey chipotle flavor with minimum heat on the back end. Id rather not feel like im drinking hotsauce instead of beer.

Same here, I much rather drink a low alcohol stout or a smoked porter in the heat.

hm..... well I know nothing about brewing, but i do know chili tastes good IN beer. We have a drink in Mexico called michelada, where you add lime, chili powder, chili sauce, maggi sauce and (optional) clamato. I love it! though i think it's an acquired taste

ha Ha Funny you should say that! A friend of mine that lives in my condo bldg is moving back to Mexico and her Facebook status is "Going to the lake tomorrow with my work husband...so ready for some sunshine, relaxation and some serious micheladas!!

Know I now what that is! I thought only clamato was to be found in Canada? We use it to make Ceasars( effectively a Bloody Mary w/ clam and either a celery or aspargus stick and rimmer) mmmm

Nah, you can easily find clamato in the US and in Mexico. Though I will say that when I was in Finland last year I couldn't find it (was gonna make some micheladas for a friend who had been in Mexico for 6 months)

Well if any of that reaches my little hole in the wall gas station that from time to time has good beer for sale, I'll be sure to pick some up.

Not too sure, might have ended up at 16 or so, luckily they closed around 2.30 for beer purchasing

     Hungover today---very rarely happens-- but started drinking about 1 pm yesterday.. a few beers at home (Kokanee Gold) then to my pub for some Sleeman's Honey Brown and a bite to eat. Then to a show with Jeff's(Elemento5) band with guest appearance from Viathyn(jake) incl. Valhalla as the final song!
and a few beverages at the show... but on 3rd beer today and the F1 race is finally on after a rain delay!
Think I'll hit a patio later...

We're going to bottlescrews on Friday dude! For CANADA DAAAYYYYYYY

And... my bad, I actually definitely had the dunkel. It was fucking delicious.

Can't wait! I know all the words to Oh! Canada so there may be drunk singing involved during the festivities. My favorite part is that Independence Day in the US is on Monday so everybody keeps asking me what I'm doing to celebrate over the long weekend and I get to say I'm going to celebrate Canada Day

Curling is the single funniest, coolest, most head scratching thing I've ever seen. It's enthralling and laughable at the same time. Maybe because I enjoy shuffleboard and bocce (lawn bowling) :headbanger:
